What does a remote construction manager do?

A Remote Construction Manager oversees construction projects from a remote location, using digital tools and technology to communicate with on-site teams, monitor progress, and ensure that projects stay on schedule and within budget. They coordinate with contractors, clients, and suppliers, resolve issues as they arise, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. This role is ideal for managing multiple projects across different locations without being physically present at each site, thanks to advances in project management software and virtual communication platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote construction manager?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Manager, you need strong project management skills, construction knowledge, and typically a degree in construction management or a related field. Proficiency with construction management software like Procore, MS Project, and remote collaboration tools is essential, along with certifications such as PMP or OSHA safety credentials. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are crucial for coordinating dispersed teams and stakeholders. These abilities ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards, even when managed from a distance.

How do remote construction managers effectively oversee projects and maintain communication with on-site teams?

Remote Construction Managers rely heavily on digital tools and regular virtual meetings to monitor project progress and address issues promptly. They utilize project management software, video conferencing, and real-time reporting to stay connected with on-site supervisors and contractors. Establishing clear communication protocols and setting expectations for updates helps ensure alignment across the team. While physical site visits may be less frequent, strong organizational and leadership skills are essential to successfully manage timelines, budgets, and quality from a distance.

Location: Hybrid - Omaha, NE or Remote - United States
The job:
As a Sales Executive at Buildertrend, you'll help residential builders simplify the way they run their business and create better experiences for their teams and homeowners. You will work with established construction companies to understand where they are today, where they want to grow, and how Buildertrend can help them get there. Your ability to build trust and guide meaningful conversations will directly influence how builders manage projects, improve profitability and scale with confidence. In your first year, success means building a strong pipeline, earning credibility with decision-makers and closing deals that help more builders work with clarity and control.
What you will do:
  • Own a portfolio of prospects and create strategies to move opportunities through the sales process.
  • Lead tailored product demonstrations that connect Buildertrend solutions to each builder's business goals.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers at companies generating $1 million or more in annual revenue.
  • Partner with sales leadership to align account strategy, priorities and next steps.
  • Develop and execute plans to meet and exceed pipeline growth and revenue goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities through targeted outreach and consistent follow-up.
  • Embrace using AI as a tool to enhance your work, while remaining open to learning, applying critical thinking, and owning the quality of your final work

Who you are and what you need:
  • 2 or more years of experience in sales or lead generation, preferably in a B2B environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A thoughtful approach to consultative selling
  • Ability to adapt your strategy based on prospect needs and buying behavior
  • Interest in construction, technology, or SaaS solutions
  • Comfortable learning new tools and systems
  • Organized, accountable, and driven to meet goals

We are giving you:
  • Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits
  • A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future
  • Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, plus personal days to make sure you have time to recharge
  • Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life's big moments
  • Volunteer time off - because giving back matters
  • Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best
  • Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need
  • Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home
  • Free daily lunches when you're at our HQ office, plus monthly events to connect with your team
