What is remote construction billing?

Remote construction billing refers to managing and processing invoices, payment applications, and financial documentation for construction projects from a location other than the actual job site. Professionals in this role use digital tools and software to track project costs, handle subcontractor payments, and ensure timely billing. This setup allows construction companies to streamline financial workflows, improve accuracy, and maintain better records without requiring billing personnel to be physically present on-site.

How does a Remote Construction Billing professional typically coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate invoicing?

Remote Construction Billing professionals regularly communicate with project managers and field teams via email, project management platforms, and virtual meetings to gather up-to-date information on project progress, change orders, and completed milestones. This close coordination helps ensure that all billable work is accurately documented and invoiced in a timely manner. Establishing clear communication channels and maintaining organized digital records are essential, as missing or delayed information from on-site teams can be a common challenge in remote settings. Proactive follow-ups and a good understanding of construction project workflows are important for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Construction Billing Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Billing Specialist, you need a solid understanding of construction accounting principles, billing processes, and experience with invoicing, typically supported by a background in finance, accounting, or construction management. Familiarity with construction management software (such as Procore or Sage 300), Excel, and electronic payment systems is crucial. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication are key soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies ensure accurate invoicing, timely payments, and smooth coordination between project teams and clients, which are vital for maintaining cash flow and successful project delivery.

Senior Construction Project Manager

Location: While this is a remote role, you will need to permanently be located in the Bozeman, Billings, Big Sky or Missoula, MT area to be considered for this role. Will be covering Montana, Idaho and Wyoming territories.

About Frontline Wildfire Defense
Founded in 2017, Frontline developed the first fully integrated wildfire defense system to stop the leading cause of home loss in wildfires: ember-driven ignition. The system combines exterior sprinklers, full-coverage design, and connected software for remote monitoring and response, allowing homes to protect themselves long after families evacuate or infrastructure fails.

Proven effective during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, 96% of homes with Frontline systems survived. That success has earned top industry recognition, including Frontline being recognized as one of TIMEโ€™s Best Inventions 2025 in the Green Tech category and receiving the PCBC Gold Nugget Award for โ€œMost Innovative Housing Conceptโ€ and the Best of IBS Award for โ€œBest Home Technology.โ€

As wildfires grow hotter and more frequent, our vision is to give people the tools and strategies to live safely with fire. Weโ€™re building a mission-driven team creating real-world solutions in wildfire safety and climate tech.

Background Check Requirement

As part of our hiring process, Frontline Wildfire Defense conducts comprehensive background checks for all new hires. These checks typically cover the past 7โ€“10 years and may include employment and education verification. For roles that require work in the field, driving record verification is also required. Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of these background checks.

As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Frontlineโ€™s wildfire defense system installations at scale. Youโ€™ll oversee a growing portfolio of residential projects, ensuring every installation meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. • Serve as the senior liaison between homeowners, general contractors, inspectors, and local agencies.
  • Support sales and business development teams in technical scoping, site assessments, and client consultations.
