The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Senior Computational Linguist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Supporting clinical Natural Language Understanding (NLU) system by maintaining and improving grammars, parsers, and terminologies.
  • Extracting, manipulating, and analyzing textual data and annotations using Python and batch scripts.
  • Determining solutions and priorities for NLU issues and enhancement requests.
    Implementing and testing solutions in coordination with clinical, technical, and business teams.
  • Willingness to be on-call

Your Skills and Expertise
Education requirements
Bachelor or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND Three (3) years of experience in Computational Linguistics.
OR
High School Diploma/GED AND a minimum of Ten (10) years of experience in software development (course work and internship experience considered) in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement.
AND
In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience with grammars and parsing, corpus analysis.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience with data annotation or medical coding and documentation.
  • Experience with regular expressions.
  • Four (4) years of experience in software development (course work and internship experience considered).

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Master's degree in a Linguistics or related field with an emphasis on computational linguistics, corpus analysis, syntax/morphology or related.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Proficiency with regular expressions.
  • Experience handling/transforming different formats including HTML, XML, JSON.
  • Experience with GitHub (merge/resolve conflicts) or other version control.
  • Experience with Java.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $145,750, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
