What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Competitive Programmer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Competitive Programmer, you need advanced skills in algorithms, data structures, problem-solving, and proficiency in programming languages like C++, Java, or Python, often demonstrated by strong performance in online coding platforms. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), online judges (such as Codeforces or LeetCode), and sometimes participation in recognized contests or certifications is typical. Exceptional analytical thinking, time management, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills for this role. These abilities are crucial for efficiently solving complex problems, maintaining code quality, and succeeding in highly competitive remote environments.

What are some common challenges faced by remote competitive programmers, and how can they overcome them?

Remote competitive programmers often face challenges such as maintaining motivation without in-person peer interaction, managing time effectively across different problem sets, and staying updated with the latest algorithms. To overcome these hurdles, it's helpful to join online programming communities, participate in virtual contests, and set a consistent practice schedule. Regular collaboration with peers through online forums or coding groups can also foster a sense of camaraderie and facilitate knowledge sharing.

What is remote competitive programming?

Remote competitive programming involves participating in programming contests and challenges through online platforms, rather than attending in-person events. Competitors solve algorithmic and coding problems within a limited time frame, often individually or in teams, and submit their solutions remotely. This allows programmers from around the world to compete, improve their problem-solving skills, and gain recognition. Many major competitions, like Codeforces, LeetCode, and AtCoder, are conducted entirely online, making this field accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

Position Summary
We are looking for a talented Business Development Manager to expand Esprow's pprofessional services business within the global capital markets industry.
This role focuses on developing client engagements related to API and protocol testing, matching engines and trading system validation, certification, and integration support for electronic trading environments. These services are delivered using Esprow's technology platform and the expertise of our engineering team.
You will work with exchanges, banks, and brokers to help them address complex testing, certification, and integration challenges within their trading infrastructure.
The role combines proactive business development with consultative engagement development - sourcing and identifying opportunities, shaping service proposals, and working closely with internal teams to structure and deliver successful client projects.
Success in this position requires a strong understanding of capital markets technology, particularly an understanding of the demand for such service, how to source them, the competitive landscape, a consultative sales mindset, and the ability to navigate complex technical and organizational environments within large financial institutions.
Position Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new opportunities for Esprow's professional services, including API testing, trading system validation, certification, and integration support.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities through industry relationships, targeted outreach, and participation in relevant industry events.
- Manage the full lifecycle of services engagements - from early opportunity identification and client discovery through proposal development, commercial negotiation, and deal closure.
- Work closely with internal product, engineering, and delivery teams to shape and scope consulting engagements, define project approach, and prepare commercial proposals.
- Develop trusted relationships with technology leaders, trading infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders within financial institutions.
- Support the positioning and evolution of Esprow's services offerings based on client needs and market developments.
- Represent Esprow in client discussions, workshops, and industry events related to trading infrastructure, APIs, and testing frameworks.
Position Requirements
- 8-12+ years of experience in business development, consulting sales, or professional services sales within financial technology or capital markets.
- Proven experience working with exchanges, banks, and brokers, or other capital markets institutions.
- Experience selling or delivering technical consulting, system integration, or testing-related services.
- Familiarity with electronic trading environments, APIs, connectivity protocols, or trading system architecture.
- Ability to lead consultative sales conversations and translate technical requirements into structured service engagements.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail in written communication and commercial proposals.
- Strong organizational and opportunity management skills.
Bonus Skills (optional, but would be a plus)
- Knowledge of the FIX Protocol and experience working with FIX-based trading environments.
- Experience with exchange certification testing or trading system onboarding projects.
- Familiarity with API testing tools, messaging protocols, or automated testing frameworks.
- Experience participating in technical client implementations or integration projects.
Ideal Personality
- A mature professional who takes ownership of opportunities and follows them through to completion.
- Independent and proactive, comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Curious about technology and motivated to understand client challenges in depth.
- A collaborative team player who works well with technical teams.
- Driven to build long-term client relationships and contribute to the company's growth.
Benefits You Will Enjoy
- Full-time position (mix of onsite and remote).
- Competitive package.
- Career path in a technology company with many talented people.
