Mission and Purpose - This role is focused on:
  • Driving complex corporate and business segment projects/initiatives to completion through design, implementation and maintenance phases Focus is on providing compensation consulting and analytical support for employed physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and other Care delivery compensation programs
  • This position acts as an internal consultant to the organization, developing analytic methodologies and report formats Responsibilities include assisting with the process of collection, analysis and reporting of data specific to organization wide Provider priorities in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assisting Director of Provider Compensation - to design and implement complex business segment compensation strategies, policies, programs, and communications within the corporate compensation philosophy framework
  • Assisting Director of Provider Compensation - in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the most complex and state-of-the-art Provider compensation programs and products and representing the business segments in corporate design efforts

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provider compensation project work including: design, consulting, and implementation of Provider compensation programs, assemble compensation packages, and analytic support of Provider compensation programs
  • Gain consensus on Provider compensation philosophy and desired strategy
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of healthcare and financial data to support program management for all Provider roles in care delivery This includes analyzing compensation plans of existing businesses and providing summaries for leadership review
  • Provide recommendations on compensation models and metrics that incentivize Provider productivity and performance and aligns with the organizational and financial objectives of the business
  • Assist leadership with determining desired market position for total cash compensation
  • As an internal consultant, this role is responsible for building solid relationships with Provider leaders of each business to ensure effective compensation solutions and strengthen Provider engagement
  • Salary survey participation and analysis, and conduct annual review of market data and communicate compensation range information
  • Performs annual compensation reviews and constructs templates for each individual Provider by analyzing information and evaluating results
  • Responds to inquiries regarding Provider total cash compensation, incentive and productivity information, non-standard pay practices, etc Compiles, categorizes, tabulates, audits and verifies Provider earnings, quality indicators, RVUs, productivity information for pay change recommendations
  • Assist with annual FMV analysis and presentation to OptumHealth Sr Leadership
  • Strategic partner for the business when it comes to Provider compensation, creating solutions to meet the business need while also balancing legal regulatory compliance
  • Liaison for participation in external surveys provides annual presentation of survey information to leaders
  • Providing analytic support on compensation projects
  • Works on the most complex compensation projects Independently drives and completes the projects with little to no oversight
  • Work with the compensation leadership to proactively identify value added compensation initiatives
  • Works directly with Human Capital Partners on complex field-initiated projects, generally with no oversight
  • Remain abreast of best practices and contemporary pay practices within the industry

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience of Provider compensation experience, including experience with analysis and understanding of Provider practice metrics Includes business acumen and an understanding of Provider practices
  • Demonstrated experience with Provider productivity and compensation benchmark data
  • Demonstrated experience with the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex and long-term projects to completion
  • Solid history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, influencing and partnering with business leaders and human capital peers across the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with multiple constituents, and proven success working in a matrix environment
  • Proven action oriented, adept at working in a fast paced, complex organization, and solid change management skills
  • Proven advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Willing pr anility 10%-15% travel

  • Professional certification, such as CPCV
  • External Provider compensation consulting experience is solidly desired
  • Experience with Provider compensation M&A due diligence
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). $91,700 to $163,700x annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
