Summary
About the Position: This is a Aircraft Dispatcher position in the Army Air Flight Detachment with U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range, White Sands Test Center with duty location Holloman AFB NM (merit).

Duties
Help
  • Act as the Army Air representative in all matters pertaining to scheduling of aircraft, aircrews, and related resources for weapons and system
    testing and evaluation on and off range for White Sands Missile Range.
  • Coordinate on and off range air operations/flight plans with appropriate air traffic control agencies such as air traffic control facilities, flight
    service stations, control towers, and Cherokee.
  • Negotiate with on and off range customers to determine the best support scenario to save and conserve customer funds.
  • Maintain current NOTAM (notice to airmen giving airfield status) file for the Continental United States.
  • Make periodic changes to DOD Flight Information Publication (FLIP) by receiving changes, removing obsolete information and filing current
    information.
  • Inform and assist the Aviation Safety Officer(s) on any area pertaining to aircraft accident prevention, investigation, and reporting.
  • Interpret guidance to the White Sands Missile Range command group regarding the operating limitations of aircraft and crews, length of flight,
    cargo weight, number of passengers and who is authorized to be a passenger on Army aircraft.
  • Review aircraft and crew requirements to accomplish the mission as requested by the supported organization

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) coordinating aircraft operations and flight plans by maintaining daily flight schedules and synchronizing aircraft and flight crew availability to ensure proper aviation missions support; (2) examining fleet and aircrew inventory with scheduling management data to ensure operational constraints of aircraft capability; and (3) utilizing aviation system to record pilot flight hours, status, and/or training requirement.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower level/grade position in the federal service (NK-02/GS -07).

  • The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The band NK- 03 is equal to the former GS-8 Step 01 through GS-10 step 10. ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $88,356.00 including locality.
