Job description

About tonies: tonies is the world’s leading interactive audio platform for children, with over 10 million Tonieboxes and 125 million Tonies sold globally. Our intuitive, screen‑free system empowers children to learn and play independently in a safe and engaging way. With a presence in over 100 countries and a diverse portfolio of 1,400 Tonies across multiple languages, we continue to redefine how children experience storytelling and learning. Since our IPO in 2021, our global team of 550+ colleagues is united by a shared mission: shaping the future of play, learning, and imagination.

We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Product - Devices to lead our Toniebox team. While our device strategy for the next 3–4 years is clearly defined, we are looking for a leader who can seamlessly onboard to this existing vision, drive its high‑quality execution, and iteratively evolve the strategy for the long term. You will be the bridge between our current success and our future innovation, ensuring flagship products continue to delight families through reliable delivery and strategic growth.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Strategic Onboarding & Evolution: Successfully adopt and execute the established devices strategy for the Toniebox category, while identifying opportunities for iterative, data‑backed evolution in the mid‑to‑long term.
  • Reliable Delivery & Execution: Lead the end‑to‑end product development lifecycle with a focus on rigorous execution, ensuring all milestones from concept to launch are met with high‑quality results and cost efficiency.
  • Structured Stakeholder Management: Establish proactive, transparent communication channels with senior leadership, marketing, sales, research, and operations to ensure total organizational alignment.
  • Portfolio Lifecycle Discipline: Manage the global product portfolio of Toniebox variations and bundles, maintaining a balance between creative innovation and commercial target achievement.
  • Accountable Leadership: Build and mentor a high‑performing team by fostering a culture of ownership, where strategic vision is consistently matched by operational reliability.
  • Performance‑Led Optimization: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success, using these insights to drive continuous improvement and stakeholder confidence.
  • Customer‑Centric Advocacy: Utilize market data and user feedback to ensure the product roadmap remains relevant to the evolving needs of children and their families.
What we are looking for:
  • Proven Leadership: 8–10 years of experience in product management, with 3–5 years in a leadership role, within consumer electronics or hardware.
  • Execution‑Focused Track Record: Demonstrated success in launching and scaling complex consumer electronic products in international markets, with a focus on meeting delivery timelines.
  • Strategic Maturity: Ability to seamlessly integrate into an existing strategic framework and manage it with discipline before proposing iterative enhancements.
  • Mastery of Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders and translate technical progress into clear business updates.
  • Operational Mindset: Strong understanding of the product development process, with the ability to navigate the transition from ideation to high‑volume market launch.
  • Data‑Driven Rigor: Analytical mindset capable of leveraging data to justify strategic shifts and prove execution success.
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Product Management; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Why tonies?

Our benefits vary by location. The following benefits apply in Germany:

  • Global Teamwork: We collaborate across departmental and country borders on our vision to bring the Toniebox into every child’s room in the world.
  • Come as you are: This applies not only to the dress code but also to everything else. Because only where you truly feel comfortable can you give your best.
  • Mobility: Choose the option that suits you best – a Deutschlandticket (public transport ticket) for unlimited mobility, a monthly contribution for an office parking space, a leasing bicycle, or a remote work subsidy.
  • Enhanced Security: Benefit from subsidies for company pension plans, occupational pension schemes, and occupational disability insurance.
  • Rest & Time Off: Enjoy 30 days of paid annual leave as well as three additional days off such as Rosenmontag, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. After one year of employment, you can also use up to 10 "toniecation days" (unpaid leave days).
  • Continuous Learning: Benefit from our internal and external training opportunities as well as an individual learning budget to continuously expand your knowledge.
  • Language Learning & Relaxation: Improve your communication skills with the language learning app Babbel and find relaxation through our access to the meditation app Calm.
  • Discounts: Benefit from attractive discounts on our entire range of tonies products.
Good to know:

Please note: All application materials and written responses must be submitted in English, as our Hiring Team is international.

As part of our principles, we are committed to supporting inclusion and diversity at tonies. We actively celebrate our colleagues’ different abilities, ethnicities, faith and gender. Everyone is welcome and supported in their development at all stages in their journey with us.
