Job description

This is a high-impact role at the center of DigitalOcean's growth strategy. Reporting to the Director Corporate Development, you will lead M&A execution end-to-end, develop business cases for acquisitions and new strategic initiatives, and contribute to investor-facing materials where deal or strategic context is needed. You will work directly with executive leadership and cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Finance, and GTM.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop business cases and financial analyses for potential acquisitions, strategic investments, and new organic initiatives, including scenario modeling for capital allocation decisions
  • Lead end-to-end M&A execution from initial sourcing through closing in order to expand DigitalOcean's product capabilities and market reach.
  • Construct complex financial models and valuation analyses to provide data-driven recommendations on potential targets, divestitures, and strategic investments; including modeling funding scenarios and capital structure impact.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional due diligence with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams to identify potential integration risks and validate synergy opportunities.
  • Develop strategically-focused project plans that align departmental goals with long-term business objectives and multi-quarter value add.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify and prioritize market opportunities that capitalize on emerging customer needs.
  • Support investor relations and board materials where M&A, competitive, or strategic context adds value.
  • Optimize internal M&A processes and workflows to increase the efficiency and scalability of the Corporate Development function.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members formally and informally to build a high-performing, inclusive culture within the department.
What You'll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • Technical Breadth: A deep understanding of end-to-end M&A execution, expert-level financial modeling and valuation, and significant experience in market landscaping/strategic analysis within the technology or cloud sector.
  • The "Human" Element: Advanced Executive Communication skills; the ability to translate complex deal structures into compelling business narratives for senior leadership and board members.
  • Growth Mindset: A desire to learn, an appetite for feedback, and a "leave it better than you found it" attitude.
Qualifications:
  • 5-7+ years of investment banking and/or corporate development experience.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills with the ability to quickly structure and solve complex problems.
  • Experience modeling capital allocation scenarios, including debt financing, lease structures, and build-vs-buy frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex deal structures into clear narratives for senior leadership and board audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in infrastructure software, cloud/datacenter, AI, or capital-intensive technology businesses.
  • Familiarity with public company dynamics, including investor communications and earnings processes.
Compensation Range: 
  • $173,000 - $207,000
