Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed preliminary interviews with clients, documenting their mental health history and current concerns from the first consultation through to treatment completion.
  • Evaluate clientsโ€™ mental, behavioral, and emotional health to establish a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly revise individualized intervention and recovery plans tailored for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitate engaging and supportive individual and group therapy sessions that encourage participation and foster healing.
  • Monitor client progress throughout treatment, adjusting plans as necessary based on feedback and clinical observations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other mental health specialists, doctors, nurses, and social workers to provide cohesive and comprehensive care.
  • Communicate with psychiatrists and attending physicians regarding clients who require hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery and employ strategies to mitigate these challenges proactively.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers by providing guidance and resources to effectively manage mental health challenges within the family unit.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The clients you will support come from various backgrounds, each with unique mental health needs. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or addiction disorders. Your role is pivotal in helping these individuals navigate their difficulties, find coping strategies, and embark on a path toward mental wellness.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree or doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC/MHSP, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Tennessee.
  • Successfully passed the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Substantial previous experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating a capacity for effective client engagement and support.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to maintain comprehensive client documentation.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with clients facing complex physical and emotional health conditions, as well as challenges related to addiction disorders.
  • Familiarity with best practices defined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and the ability to apply these standards in practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacological treatments prescribed by medical specialists and their potential impacts on mental health.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal abilities.
