Revenue Cycle Scheduling Associate

Position Details:

Reports to: Manager, RCM

Job Summary:

Centralized Schedulers perform scheduling functions for ancillary departments across the organization as current policies and procedures dictate. The centralized scheduler applies special instructions and procedural information to schedule such procedures correctly and timely while providing exceptional customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately schedules procedures consistent with physician orders, maintaining an accuracy rate of 98%.
  • Provide patients with exam appropriate preparations.
  • Notify the appropriate departments of any schedule changes.
  • Accurately assign the correct insurance at the time of scheduling, maintaining an accuracy rate of 98%.
  • Maintain policy, productivity and customer service standards set forth by the department.
  • Maintain a call abandonment rate of less than 3%.
  • Perform medical necessity checks as dictated by payor policies and government regulation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Recognizes and consistently exhibits exceptional customer service as a critical factor in all duties performed.
  • The ability to work within a remote call center environment free from distractions and background noise.
  • Proficient in typing.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing. Bilingual a plus.

Work Experience, Education and Certifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous scheduling experience in the medical field preferred.
