Job Description
The BDM for Fire Protection and Water Works will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with Fire Protection Contractors, Fire Distributors, Manufacturer's Representatives, Fire Engineers, Water Works Distributors and Municipalities throughout the Midwest region. This role will also be responsible for identifying key contractors in market, understanding the contractor and distributors' needs, decisions and purchase making prosses. Create demand to grow market share and support Zurn Elkay's sales network.
Candidate must reside within the defined territory: Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota
Travel up to 75%
Key Accountabilities
  • Contractor Relationship Development
  • Distributor Relationship Development
  • Be involved in industry associations
  • Market Understanding and Strategy
  • Analyze buying habits and decision-making processes on contractor and distributor level
  • Drive specification (Basis of Design) at the engineer and design-build contactor levels.

Collaboration and Support
  • Work closely with local manufacturers representative to strengthen relations and brand awareness
  • Provide Technical assistance and on-site support to contractors as needed, resolving any job site issues promptly
  • Pipeline and CRM Management
  • Provide regular updates on sales and relationship-building efforts
  • Increase Market share and product/brand demand
  • Promote and position Fire Protection and Water Works products as the preferred brand of choice for contractors, distributors and engineers.

  • Technical training/presentations to large audiences
  • Understand market drivers, technical trends, customer requirements (e.g. new products or services), and competitive landscape.
  • Work with backflow testing training classes to help teach backflow testing and understand the inner workings of backflow devices.
  • Provide qualitative voice-of-customer (VOC) feedback to new product development teams on Zurn Elkay's existing products, new products, and competitor offerings.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in marketing or business management.
  • Proven 3 to 5 years sales management/technical experience as well as distribution calling on owners, specifiers and contractors for fire protection.
  • Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions.
  • Well versed in establishing strategic accounts and managing product development projects
  • Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to produce and execute detailed marketing plans and profitably grow sales revenue
  • Uses compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required including a demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and ethically driven individual.
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of PC- based computing and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong business acumen-detail oriented, analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Candidate must reside within the defined territory (Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota)
  • Travel up to 75%

Base Salary Range: $108,000 - $147,000
The compensation range(s) identified above is a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range.
