Matrix Providers is actively seeking a high-performing Business Development professional who knows how to identify, shape, bid, and WIN government contracts. The Business Development Leader will be responsible for driving strategic growth including identifying new business opportunities across government agencies including the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs, and other Federal sectors. The ideal candidate is a leader with a military background and a proven track record in government contracting, proposal management and building partnerships that drive revenue growth.

*This is a remote position in the Washington, DC area and will be performed out of the candidateโ€™s home-based office.*

  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Location: Washington, DC area
  • Reports to: President & CEO
  • Compensation: Base + variable bonus compensation
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am -5pm
  • Travel Requirements: up to 50%

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve revenue targets and expand market share
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including geographic expansion, new service lines, and emerging healthcare staffing trends.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform pricing decisions and position Matrix Providers as a market leader.
  • Federal Acquisition: Deep understanding of the federal procurement process within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs and agency landscapes
  • Self-Starter: Hunter mentality with the ability to build long-term trusted advisor relationships
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track KPIs to measure the success of business development initiatives, reporting progress to the President and executive team.
  • Oversee the process to create competitive pricing models that balance competitiveness, profitability, and compliance with federal, state, and contract requirements.
  • Proposal Development: Oversee the creation of compelling proposals, RFPs, and bids, ensuring alignment with client needs and Matrix Providersโ€™ capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with program management, operations, recruiting, and finance teams to ensure seamless delivery of staffing solutions and alignment with business goals.

Experience/Qualifications

  • 10+ Years of military experience
  • 8+ years of experience in government contracting business development
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Strong existing federal relationships and track record of winning contracts ($20M+)
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills with government stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable growth plans.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex solutions clearly.
