Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Mental Health Therapist to join our dedicated team at Blue Horizon Psychotherapy Clinic. This full-time position, based in Syracuse, New York, offers the flexibility of remote work through a telehealth platform. As a mental health professional, your primary focus will be on managing and treating mood disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety-related conditions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Work Environment

We embrace a telehealth work setting, allowing you to conduct therapy sessions remotely, which offers convenience and flexibility for both you and your clients. Our clinic operates primarily from Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with the occasional requirement for evening or weekend hours on a rotational basis. This structure supports a healthy work-life balance while maximizing accessibility for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the severity, frequency, and duration of mood disorder symptoms in clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to create individualized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals.
  • Implement evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to address mood disorders.
  • Educate clients and their families about mood disorders, treatment options, and self-care strategies, fostering an environment of understanding and support.
  • Monitor and document client progress throughout treatment, making timely adjustments to therapy approaches as needed.
  • Work closely with psychiatrists and other medical professionals to ensure integrated and comprehensive care that meets each client's unique needs.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments and research in mood disorder treatment to enhance therapeutic techniques.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development initiatives to promote continuous learning and improvement.
  • Advocate for clients in the community to reduce stigma surrounding mood disorders and enhance access to necessary mental health resources.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will involve working with individuals facing various mood disorders, providing the vital support they need to manage their symptoms effectively. You will engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that their individual experiences, cultural contexts, and personal stories inform your therapeutic approach. This client-centered focus is essential in fostering trust and achieving positive therapeutic outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current, valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital for building a rapport with clients and their families.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience specializing in treating mood disorders is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities, particularly CBT and DBT.
  • Strong understanding of psychopharmacology to collaborate effectively with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals.
  • A proven track record of positive outcomes in the treatment of mood disorders.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
