PartTime Emergency Mental Health Services Clinician

Newaygo County Mental Health

Position Summary

The PartTime Emergency Services Clinician provides afterhours behavioral health crisis stabilization services, preadmission screenings, and clinical support to individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies. This position works remotely, collaborating with the local hospital via Zoom to complete screenings and coordinate care. Clinicians receive one rate for oncall coverage and a separate rate when responding to calls. This role is ideal for licensed or limitedlicensed clinicians seeking flexible, meaningful work in crisis services with strong clinical support and training.

Key Responsibilities

·         Crisis Assessment & Intervention — Conduct behavioral health crisis intervention via Zoom with the local hospitals and community.

·         Preadmission Screening — Complete preadmission screenings for inpatient, crisis residential, and partial hospitalization services in accordance with Access policies

·         Clinical Documentation — Complete timely, accurate clinical and fiscal documentation, including afterhours requirements.

·         Collaboration & Coordination — Work closely with the hospital, law enforcement, community partners, and NCMH programs to ensure safe, appropriate care.

·         Mental Health Code Application — Apply voluntary and involuntary treatment statutes, including peace officer petitioning and Assisted Outpatient Treatment orders.

·         Emergency Protocol Adherence — Follow oncall procedures, answering service protocols, and expectations for clinician conduct.

·         Crisis Resource Navigation — Provide linkage to community resources and supports as part of crisis stabilization.

Minimum Qualifications

·         One of the following Michigan licenses: LBSW, LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, LLPC, LLP

·         Experience or strong interest in crisis intervention, behavioral health, or emergency services

·         Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions under pressure

·         Strong communication skills and comfort using telehealth platforms

·         Ability to work required shifts (see below)

Schedule & Compensation

·         Weekdays: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM

·         Weekends & Holidays: 8:00 AM – 8:00 AM (24hour shift)

·         Compensation:

o    One rate for oncall coverage

o    A separate rate for responding to calls

o    Rates will be determined based on licensure and experience

·         The number of shifts may vary.  The clinician will be coordinated with the existing Emergency Services Team.

This is a remote position; clinicians must have reliable internet access and a private, confidential workspace.
