Job description

Workers Compensation Underwriter

Property and Casualty Insurance

100% Remote - Miami-Dade County, Florida

Description:

This operation, located in Florida, wholesales insurance to independent retail agencies across both personal and commercial lines. Our client is looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Workers' Compensation Underwriter to become a part of their team. This role involves assessing and pricing WC risks submitted by retail agency partners, overseeing a book of business, and contributing to the growth of the WC product line. The right candidate will underwrite new and renewal workers' compensation submissions from appointed retail brokers. They will examine loss runs, payroll information, class codes, and risk factors to make informed decisions regarding coverage. Building and sustaining strong relationships with retail agency partners is essential. Clear and timely communication of decisions is required — in both English and Spanish. The role also involves collaborating with leadership on appetite, pricing strategies, and market positioning.

Requirements:

Possession of an Active Florida 2-20 General Lines License is essential — this is non-negotiable. The candidate must have at least three years of experience in workers' compensation underwriting. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken) is a must — non-negotiable. A solid grasp of Florida WC statutes and the NCCI rating system is required. Experience in a wholesale or MGA environment is preferred.
