Job description

Loss mitigations including CFPB regulatory experience required!

My client, a financial/mortgage is looking for a Loss Mitigation Underwriter, this position reviews and underwrites loss‐mitigation applications, analyzes borrower financials, and applies investor guidelines to determine solutions for delinquent mortgage accounts. Core duties include processing investor workouts, coordinating with internal teams and agencies, and maintaining a compliant loan‐level portfolio within required deadlines

Type: Temp (6 months to start, potential for conversion based on performance)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Remote - must be able to work schedule in PST time zone

Pay Rate: $25/hr

Schedule: M-F, 7:30am-4 or 8-4:30pm PST (CA time)

Essential Functions:

· Loan workout packages — Gather required documents and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines.

· Loss‐mitigation underwriting — Underwrite forbearance, repayment, partial claims, deferrals, and modifications.

· Financial analysis — Review borrower financials, validate income/expenses, and run waterfall calculations.

· Investor coordination — Work with investors to determine workout eligibility and obtain results.

· Compliance reviews — Complete accurate, timely file reviews aligned with investor and servicing standards.

· Title & valuation tasks — Order appraisals, title updates, endorsements, and subordination documents.

· Portfolio & system updates — Maintain loan‐level accuracy and update internal/investor systems.

· Issue resolution & audits — Resolve outstanding items, support audits, and follow security policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • 1 yr or more of loss mitigation experience including CFPB regulatory
  • Proficient in Excel is a MUST.
  • Working knowledge of FNMA/ FHLMC/ FHA/ VA/ USDA mortgage loan documents, , compliance and regulatory requirements related to federal debt collection laws, Federal Bankruptcy Laws,
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, CFPB, FCRA, and FDCPA preferred.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, department-metrics-driven environment required. They will have deadlines to meet!
  • Bilingual Preferred
