What Does a Remote BI Developer Do?

As a remote BI developer, you work from home or otherwise remotely to design and program software that supports a company's business intelligence needs. To accomplish this, you may use SQL to store and organize data, determine which types of analytics to use with your software, and ensure your software can create each type of report your client asks for. Remote BI developers frequently create complex SQL queries that pull data from multiple sources, translate user requirements into programming objectives, and coordinate with database and infrastructure teams. You may also help create tools to store data, conduct testing, update existing software, and help assess future business intelligence needs.

Is AI replacing BI?

As a Remote BI Developer, understanding how AI impacts business intelligence is important. AI tools are increasingly used to automate data analysis and generate insights, complementing traditional BI processes. However, BI roles still require expertise in data modeling, visualization, and interpretation, so AI is seen as an enhancement rather than a complete replacement.

How to make $1000 a week remote?

A remote BI Developer can earn $1000 or more weekly by working on multiple projects, freelancing, or securing high-paying contracts that leverage skills in data analysis, SQL, and visualization tools. Building a strong portfolio, gaining relevant certifications, and networking can help increase earning potential in this field.

Are BI developers in demand?

BI developers are in high demand due to the increasing need for data analysis and reporting across industries. Skills in tools like Power BI, Tableau, and SQL, along with experience in data modeling, enhance job prospects in this field.

What are Remote BI Developers?

Remote BI Developers collaborate with stakeholders virtually to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights, ensuring that data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote BI Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote BI Developer, you need strong analytical skills, experience with data modeling, and proficiency in SQL, typically supported by a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik, as well as knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing, is commonly required. Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly hands-on builder who can take ambiguous business problems and rapidly develop pragmatic, end-to-end solutions using modern AI tooling-particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem.

This is not a traditional architecture or implementation role. Success in this position requires speed, experimentation, and execution, with a strong bias toward delivering working solutions quickly. This position is fully remote in PST time zone.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Design and build AI-powered workflows and agents using Power Platform and Copilot Studio
  • Translate mapped marketing processes into working agent and automation prototypes - starting small and iterating quickly.
  • Build hands-on across the Microsoft AI stack: Copilot Studio, Power Automate / workflow orchestration,GitHub Copilot, and Azure AI / Foundry where appropriate.
  • Combine deterministic automation (routing, approvals), LLM-based drafting and reasoning, and lightweight orchestration patterns.
  • Instrument builds into our existing telemetry and governance framework rather than introducing parallel measurement systems.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of overall experience in software, automation, or data-related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Co-Pilot, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with personally shipping agents and automations in Copilot Studio (built and deployed, not "familiar with")
  • Strong experience across Power Platform and Azure AI, with sound judgment on when to reach for Copilot Studio vs. Foundry vs. deterministic automation.
  • Can distinguish when Power Automate is sufficient versus when AI or Copilot Studio adds value.
  • Comfortable building from an 80% complete product spec.
  • Prefers rapid iteration over perfect specifications.
  • Thrives in a scrappy, MVP-first environment with rapid iteration.
  • Clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs to, and collaborate closely with, a non-deeply-technical lead.
  • US-based

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server and data platforms (ability to collaborate with data teams)
  • Familiarity with: Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Azure data and AI services

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER:

Because we know how important our people are to the success of our clients, it's a priority to make sure we stay committed to our employees and making Beyondsoft a great place to work.
