Controls Programmer - Alexandria, VA or Upper Marlboro, MD - $100,000+ | Full-Service HVAC & BAS ContractorAbout the Opportunity:

A well-established and rapidly expanding HVAC controls and automation contractor in the Greater DMV region is seeking an experienced Controls Programmer to join its team. This full-time role includes both in-office programming and field-based commissioning work, offering excellent compensation, strong benefits, and long-term career growth.

  • Alexandria, VA or Upper Marlboro, MD
Position Details:
  • Title: Controls Programmer
  • Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 (DOE)
  • Bonus: Discretionary
  • Work Type: In-Office with Regular Field Visits

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop custom BAS applications using both new code and standard libraries
  • Design automation system architectures and prepare detailed submittals
  • Program and integrate controls with third-party BAS systems
  • Modify, update, and maintain software across existing BAS deployments
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, control diagrams, and sequences of operation
  • Create BAS front-end graphics and user interface visuals
  • Perform point-to-point testing and verify system calibration
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, networks, and communication devices
  • Provide remote and on-site support for system issues
  • Deliver end-user training on system operation and navigation
Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience as a Controls Programmer or BAS Software Specialist
  • Strong understanding of building automation architecture and integration strategies
  • Hands-on experience with Tridium/Niagara platforms (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Honeywell, Johnson FX, Vykon, or Trane controls is a plus
