Job description

Who we're looking for
We are looking for an ambitious, results oriented and driven controller to join our high-performing team in our global Fieldwire headquarters in San Francisco, CA or Remote. You will take a key role within our organization as a business partner and team leader, reporting directly to the Director of Finance for Fieldwire. While developing your leadership skills managing the finance operations (Accounting, C&C, AR, and AP), you will also be responsible for revenue recognition,internal and external controls, Audit, Treasury, and key finance responsibilities listed below.
What you'll be doing
A day in the life of a Controller will find you leading a team striving for operational excellence, forecasting financial results, and ensuring compliance while frequently solving these types of problems:
  • We strive for operational excellence, which means we need to figure out how to accurately close our financial statements every month within 3 working days
  • In a rapidly evolving SaaS environment, we need to be able to accurately recognize revenue in accordance with ASC 606, predict the future revenue as well as spend, and steer the organization using data driven decisions to increase revenue 50% year over year
  • As a controller, you are responsible for ensuring compliance and maintaining a robust internal and external control environment in a company that is driving innovation and continuously pushing the boundaries.

The primary responsibilities for our next Controller will be to:
  • Own revenue recognition end-to-end, including ASC 606 policy application across SaaS subscription, multi-year, and usage-based arrangements; review contracts for revenue implications; manage deferred revenue and monthly revenue close; and partner with Sales, RevOps, and Legal on deal structuring.
  • Lead the accounting function end-to-end, including general ledger, monthly and quarterly close, AP/AR, payroll, commissions, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness.
  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements, perform account analyses and reconciliations, oversee cash flow reporting, and support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment, serving as the primary owner of SOX/control compliance and ensuring effective operation of controls throughout the year.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, coordinating audit activities and ensuring compliance through effective controls and documentation.
  • Manage intercompany accounting and related agreements, ensuring accurate accounting treatment and compliance across entities.
  • Partner with external accounting firms and shared service teams, while leading the finance operations team at Fieldwire and collaborating with support teams in Tulsa and Schaan.
  • Analyze variances to forecast and budget, create transparency into drivers and business impacts, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, compliance, and business performance.
  • Support regional and global strategic projects and other business-critical initiatives as needed.

At Fieldwire, we're looking for our next Controller to have the following skills and experiences:
  • A masters degree in Finance / Economics/ Accounting / Business Administration/ International Management (CPA or CA preferred)
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a multinational company, working in controlling, cost accounting, or as a business analyst
  • Strong communication skills
  • Analytic mindset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office (especially excel)
  • Knowledge of Xero, SAP, Stripe, and Ramp is a plus
  • Passion to learn and drive to succeed
  • A proactive approach and self-reliant personality

Compensation:
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows: $145,000 - $175,000
The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors such as your skills, qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary you may be eligible for a corporate bonus which can range up to 30%.
