Description
Hiring an Associate Attorney with experience in Trusts, Estates, and Elder Law
Position: Mid-Level Associate
Location: Laytonsville, MD
Type: Full-Time; Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote)
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys building relationships, working collaboratively with a supportive team, and helping clients feel confident and cared for as they plan for the future. Under the guidance of a senior attorney, you'll work closely with paralegals and staff to move client matters smoothly from design through execution. Our ideal candidate is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys guiding clients through important and sometimes emotional conversations.
Responsibilities
What Success Looks Like In This Role
โ€ข Approaches estate planning as people-centered work rather than document production.
โ€ข Treats every client with respect and empathy.
โ€ข Demonstrates ownership, integrity, and a solution-oriented mindset.
โ€ข Provides clear drafting instructions and constructive feedback to paralegals and staff.
โ€ข Complex legal concepts are explained in plain language without sacrificing accuracy.
โ€ข Planning strategies appropriately address tax implications, fiduciary roles, guardianship considerations, and asset coordination.
โ€ข Signing meetings are conducted professionally and efficiently, with clients expressing clarity and confidence in their plan.
Qualifications
Our preferred candidate:
โ€ข Is an active member of the State Bar of Maryland.
โ€ข Has 3 to 5 years of estate planning and/or estate administration experience.
โ€ข Has the capacity to handle cases and clients independently (after a period of orientation and monitored work).
โ€ข Shows compassion when dealing with clients and has a talent for winning their confidence and respect.
โ€ข Is willing to work hard to see that our clients receive top-notch service and results.
โ€ข Is proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
โ€ข Has character, intelligence and integrity, and someone who contributes positively to the atmosphere within the office.
โ€ข Is competent with technology including Case Management Software, Google Workspace, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
