Remote Associate Attorney information

What are remote associate attorneys?

Remote associate attorneys are licensed lawyers who work for law firms or legal departments from a location outside of the traditional office, often from home or another remote location. They handle legal research, draft documents, participate in client meetings, and assist senior attorneys with case preparation, all while collaborating virtually. This role leverages technology to communicate with clients and colleagues, making it possible to fulfill legal duties without being physically present at the firm's office.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Associate Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Associate Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor degree, bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction, and strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis, case management software, and secure document-sharing platforms is essential. Outstanding communication, time management, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and meeting deadlines. These skills and qualities ensure high-quality legal work, efficient remote practice, and effective client representation in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Associate Attorneys, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Associate Attorneys often encounter challenges related to communication and collaboration due to the virtual nature of the role. Staying connected with supervising attorneys and colleagues requires proactive communication, regular check-ins, and effective use of collaboration tools. Managing time zones and differing work schedules can also be challenging, so setting clear expectations and utilizing project management platforms can help keep everyone aligned. Additionally, building relationships remotely may require extra effort, such as participating in virtual team meetings and informal chats to foster team cohesion.

Join EQUES Law Group as an Associate Attorney (HOA Focus)

Redefining Law. Empowering Attorneys. Building Community.

At EQUES Law Group, we're not your traditional law firm, and we're proud of that. We're a modern, entrepreneurial, and purpose-driven firm that's changing the way legal services are delivered. Our attorneys are supported by a strong operational backbone, provided the freedom to grow, and encouraged to lead with integrity and innovation.

If you're an attorney looking to make a meaningful impact in the Homeowners and Condo Owners Association (HOA/COA) legal space and want the backing of a collaborative, tech-forward team, we'd love to meet you.

Why Choose EQUES?

Based Near Cleveland, Ohio, this position offers the perfect blend of local impact and firm-wide support.

Team-First Environment: We grow together through collaboration, not competition.

Operational Excellence: Focus on law, while we provide administrative, marketing, and business development support.

Entrepreneurial Spirit: Build your book with the tools and mentorship to make it happen.

People-First Culture: Compassion, authenticity, and work-life harmony are core to who we are.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience in practice, looking to expand their knowledge of law in the area of Homeowners Association work. This is a rare opportunity to own and grow a practice area with an established pipeline and the firm's full backing.

You'll work closely with HOA boards and management companies, advising them on governance, disputes, collections, litigation, and more. You'll also participate in shaping the practice's direction, supported by our collaborative attorney team and skilled paralegals.

What You'll Do

- Represent HOA and COA clients across a range of legal matters

- Draft and update governing documents (bylaws, CC&Rs, policies)

- Manage collections and enforcement actions

- Represent clients in hearings, trials, and board meetings

- Lead client communications, budgeting, and strategy planning

- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary experts and other attorneys

- Engage in community outreach, business development, and networking

What We're Looking For

- Licensed Ohio Attorney (JD required)

- 3-5 years of attorney legal experience

- Client-focused, highly organized, and business-minded

- Emotionally intelligent, collaborative, and coachable

- Strong communication and legal drafting skills

- Tech-savvy and confident with remote tools and systems

- Willingness to travel locally for meetings and hearings

Total Compensation & Benefits

We believe in rewarding our attorneys with competitive pay and meaningful perks:

- Base + Performance-Based Salary

- 401(k) with up to 4% Match

- Health, Vision, Dental, Life & Disability Insurance

- HRA Annual Payment

- Generous PTO Plan (Up to 20 Days Vacation + 10-15 Sick Days)

- Paid Leave (Holidays, Maternity, Jury Duty, Bereavement, School Visitation)

- Paid CLE & Professional Development

- Travel Reimbursement

- Support for business development and leadership training

What Makes an EQUES Attorney Stand Out?

Our values shape our team and our success:

- Intellectual Honesty & Emotional Intelligence

- Empowerment Through Leadership

- Innovation in Legal Services

- Respect & Professionalism

We're looking for attorneys who want to make a difference, not just bill hours. If you bring passion, purpose, and professionalism to your work, EQUES is the place for you.

Location

This position is based in Northern Ohio, with a focus on the Cleveland metro area. Hybrid flexibility is available after onboarding.
