Remote Asic Rtl Design Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineer, you need a solid background in digital design, computer engineering, and hardware description languages like Verilog or VHDL, often supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics, as well as experience with simulation, synthesis, and version control systems, is crucial. Strong problem-solving, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure accurate, efficient design cycles and effective collaboration across distributed teams, leading to successful chip delivery.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineers often face challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams across different time zones and ensuring effective communication during complex design phases. To address these issues, it’s important to establish clear documentation practices, utilize collaboration tools like version control and video conferencing, and schedule regular check-ins with team members. Additionally, staying proactive in seeking feedback and clarifying design specifications helps ensure alignment and reduces misunderstandings. Building strong virtual relationships with verification and backend teams can also streamline the handoff process and overall project flow.

What is a Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineer?

A Remote ASIC RTL Design Engineer is a professional who specializes in designing the Register Transfer Level (RTL) code for Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) while working remotely. Their main responsibilities include creating and verifying digital circuit designs using hardware description languages such as Verilog or VHDL. These engineers collaborate with hardware teams to ensure functionality, performance, and power requirements are met, all while operating from a location outside of a traditional office setting. They often use remote collaboration tools and simulation software to review and validate designs before fabrication.

What is the difference between Remote Asic Rtl Design Engineer vs Remote Digital IC Design Engineer?

AspectRemote Asic Rtl Design EngineerRemote Digital IC Design Engineer
Primary FocusRegister Transfer Level (RTL) design for ASICsDigital integrated circuit design at the IC level

Job description

Design & Integration, a premier technology integration contractor, is seeking an experienced AV Design Engineer. The Engineer is responsible for converting customer requirements and system concepts into fully developed, functional audiovisual (AV) designs for commercial, educational, and enterprise environments. This role involves close collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors during the design phase and with sales, project management, and installation teams during the integration and commissioning phases.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. While this is a fully remote position, occasional travel throughout Baltimore, Washington, and Northern Virginia areas is required. Responsibilities Needs Analysis and Consultation: Conduct client discovery meetings and site surveys to assess technical requirements and translate customer needs into functional system designs.

System Design and Documentation: Create comprehensive AV system documentation, including detailed signal flow diagrams, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), rack elevations, and construction details using AutoCAD. Develop detailed scope of work documents defining both physical and functional requirements of the AV system. Bill of Materials (BOM) & Cost Estimation: Develop accurate equipment specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and labor estimates to support the sales team during the quoting and bidding processes.

Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate AV infrastructure designs with other disciplines (e.g., architects, general contractors, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and engineers) to ensure seamless integration into the building systems. Technical Support: Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the installation and programming teams, assisting with troubleshooting, configuration, and commissioning of systems in the field. Project Handoff: Provide detailed project briefings to the assigned Project Manager and field operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to installation.

Quality Assurance & Standards: Conduct peer reviews of design documents and ensure all designs comply with company and industry standards. Continuing Education: Stay current with emerging AV technologies, industry trends, and manufacturer certifications to recommend modern, cost-effective solutions. Qualifications Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial AV system design and integration. Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of AV signal flow, control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX), audio DSPs (QSC, Biamp, BSS), video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex), and IP networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, Dante). Software Proficiency: Skilled in using design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, , and Bluebeam.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is also required. BIM, Revit, Navisworks experience a plus. Certifications: The AVIXA CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) certification is highly preferred; an active CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) is a minimum expectation.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical issues efficiently. Physical Requirements: Occasional site visits may require the ability to navigate construction sites, climb ladders, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work on a computer for extended periods. Design & Integration offers a comprehensive benefit package including a competitive salary, health, dental, and a generous retirement plan. Qualified candidates interested in joining a challenging, growth-oriented organization are encouraged to apply.
