Job Summary:
Sentara Health is hiring a Senior AI Engineer who will drive the delivery of production AI platforms. This role involves leading solution architecture and orchestrating model pipelines while ensuring compliance and scalability of AI systems.
Responsibilities:
• drive end-to-end delivery of production AI platforms
• lead solution architecture
• orchestrate model pipelines
• design multi-agent workflows
• create reusable SDKs and frameworks
• work across product, engineering, security, and governance teams to ensure AI systems are scalable, observable, cost-efficient, and compliant
• define design patterns
• optimize operational pipelines
• enable internal reuse of proven solutions
• own the full lifecycle from architecting secure, compliant solutions to deploying and scaling them in production
• work with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, multi-agent orchestration, and API integrations for EHR, CRM, and member portals
• solve complex problems
• ensure HIPAA compliance and Responsible AI practices
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5 years in production-grade AI/ML
• 3 years building and operating production AI/ML systems - training, deployment, monitoring
• One year GenAI/LLM or RAG solution delivered to production or equivalent experience open-source contributions, or startups.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or related field or equivalent practical experience delivering production AI/ML systems.
• Master’s or equivalent experience
• Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, or ML specialty credentials
