Instructional Designer E-Learning Development McGarity Consulting Group | Remote | Contract

About McGarity McGarity Consulting Group is a Chicago-based learning and organizational development consultancy with 11 years of experience building custom e-learning across regulated, compliance-intensive, and technically complex environments. We are a WBENC women-owned and NMSDC minority-owned business serving clients across healthcare, energy, financial services, insurance, and professional services.
The Opportunity McGarity is expanding its bench of experienced Instructional Designers to support growing client demand. This is a contract position for qualified professionals who want flexible, high-quality project work with a consultancy that builds sophisticated, meaningful learning experiences not off-the-shelf content.
What You Will Do

  • Design and develop custom e-learning courses in Articulate Storyline 360 from storyboard through final SCORM-compliant delivery
  • Apply Bloom's Taxonomy to develop measurable, performance-based learning objectives aligned to business outcomes
  • Design evaluation strategies using the Kirkpatrick Model across all four levels reaction, learning, behavior, and results
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop accurate, engaging instructional content
  • Design scenario-based learning, branching interactions, software simulations, and assessments
  • Apply Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards to all deliverables
  • Manage feedback cycles and incorporate client revisions within established timelines
  • Support multiple concurrent projects as needed
Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of instructional design and e-learning development experience
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 required, non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated application of Bloom's Taxonomy in learning objective design
  • Experience applying the Kirkpatrick Model for training evaluation and measurement
  • Experience with SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 packaging and LMS deployment
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
  • Familiarity with ADDIE, SAT, or Agile instructional design methodology
  • Strong written communication and ability to translate complex subject matter into clear learning experiences
