Professionals in these roles typically work for organizations needing mapping, geospatial analysis, or data management, but they perform their tasks outside of a traditional office setting, often from home. Duties may include creating maps, conducting spatial analysis, managing geodatabases, and collaborating with teams virtually. Remote ArcGIS Pro jobs are common in industries like urban planning, environmental science, utilities, and government. These roles require proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, attention to detail, and strong communication skills for remote collaboration.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote ArcGIS Pro specialist?

To thrive as a Remote ArcGIS Pro Specialist, you need a solid background in geographic information systems (GIS), spatial data analysis, and cartography, usually supported by relevant education or certifications in GIS. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro software, data visualization tools, and common geospatial data formats is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for collaborating with remote teams and stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate spatial analysis, high-quality mapping deliverables, and successful project outcomes in distributed work environments.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Join our team as a highly skilled and detail-oriented Esri ArcGIS Administrator to own the health, stability, and performance of our enterprise ArcGIS ecosystem across DEV, QA, and PROD environments. You'll be the go-to person for keeping Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and our SQL Server enterprise geodatabases running smoothly — from proactive monitoring and patch management to troubleshooting end-user incidents and coordinating releases through the SDLC. You'll also partner directly with Esri Technical Support and other vendors when issues need to go deeper.

This role is ideal for a GIS professional who combines strong ArcGIS Enterprise administration skills with scripting ability (Python, and ideally .NET), thrives on solving problems under real operational stakes, and enjoys being the reliable backbone that keeps critical systems running smoothly.

ABOUT US

we-do-IT Inc. (WDI) is a leading geospatial and IT consulting firm specializing in GIS solutions for the electric and gas utility sector. From automation and Esri Utility Network migrations to Microsoft Power Platform development, we help utilities streamline operations, reduce costs, and unlock efficiency.

“We’re a 100% remote team with a harmonious culture that values collaboration, flexibility, and continuous learning - offering extraordinary benefits and true work-life balance.”

COMPENSATION

  • Salary Range: $110,000 to $150,000 flexible based on expertise and skills
  • Bonuses: Discretionary performance (annual)
  • Paid Time Off: 20 PTO days + 11 paid Federal holidays
  • Retirement: 401(k) company match to 4%
  • Health: Premium medical, dental, vision (effective immediately)
  • Home Office: Equipment & supply reimbursement
  • Professional Development: $2,500 annual training allowance + industry conference attendance

RESPONSIBILITIES

Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Support

  • Support ArcGIS Enterprise components, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and Web Adaptor.
  • Provide support for Esri Field Maps, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Assist with applying Esri patches and service packs in coordination with IT change management processes.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, roles, and item-level permissions within Portal/ArcGIS Online as applicable.
  • Configure and maintain web services (map, feature, geoprocessing, image services) published to ArcGIS Server.
  • Support new environment creation and stand-up as needed.

SQL Server Enterprise Geodatabase Support

  • Troubleshoot database connections and branch versioning issues.
  • Assist with database maintenance coordination and index maintenance recommendations.
  • Support performance investigations and data integrity investigations.
  • Provide Utility Network validation support.

Monitoring & Preventative Maintenance

  • Monitor ArcGIS Server, Portal, and Data Store health, service availability, and response times across all environments.
  • Monitor dashboards/alerts to proactively identify degraded performance or service outages.
  • Perform certificate monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot interface job failures, remediating configuration-level and other simple issues while coordinating complex code-level issue repair with the development team.

Maintenance Jobs & Routine Operations

  • Monitor recurring maintenance and interface jobs.
  • Validate successful completion of scheduled jobs and remediate failures within agreed response times.
  • Manage routine data requests.

End-User Support (Incident Management)

  • Provide tiered support for end-user incidents related to GIS applications and data, including:
    • Application errors or unavailability (web maps, dashboards, field apps, desktop ArcGIS Pro connections)
    • Data quality, editing, or versioning/reconciliation issues
    • Access and permissions issues
    • Print, export, and geoprocessing service failures
    • Performance issues
  • Log all incidents, root cause, and resolution in the designated ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow) or as otherwise directed.
  • Escalate to Esri Technical Support where issues require vendor-level investigation and help manage the case through resolution.

Environment & Release Management

  • Support promotion of configuration, services, and data changes through the SDLC.
  • Support change control and release windows, including occasional after-hours deployment support for PROD and QA changes.
  • Support change sync across multiple DEV and QA environments.

Vendor Coordination

  • Assist with coordination with Esri Technical Support and other software vendors, including opening support cases, providing diagnostic information, and implementing vendor recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
