Remote Apparel Design information

What are some unique challenges faced by remote apparel designers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote apparel designers often face challenges related to communication, feedback, and coordination with production teams, as they typically do not have in-person access to physical samples or colleagues. To address these challenges, designers rely heavily on detailed digital presentations, clear documentation, and frequent virtual check-ins with team members to ensure their vision is accurately translated into finished products. Effective use of digital tools and proactive communication help bridge the distance, while strong organizational skills help designers manage multiple projects and tight deadlines. Many companies also provide access to virtual sample review platforms and foster a supportive team culture to make remote collaboration smoother. By staying adaptable and embracing the latest design technologies, remote apparel designers can overcome these challenges and thrive in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote apparel design?

To thrive in Remote Apparel Design, you need strong creative skills in fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction, often supported by a degree in fashion design or a related field. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop), 3D design software, and experience with digital collaboration tools are typically required. Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work independently make candidates stand out in this remote position. These abilities ensure that designs meet client specifications, deadlines are managed efficiently, and remote collaboration is smooth and effective.

Job Description

Fabletics is currently looking for a Senior Analyst - Apparel Quality.

How Do You Fit In?

The Senior Analyst - Apparel Quality is responsible for ensuring products consistently meet company quality standards throughout development and bulk production. This role partners with cross-functional teams, vendors, factories, and our internal QA inspection teams to identify quality risks, drive root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve overall manufacturing performance.

This role executes Fabletics' quality strategy by embedding 'Quality by Design' principles from concept through bulk production. As the technical quality expert, the Senior Analyst interprets construction and lab test standards, leads root cause investigations, and drives factory capability and continuous improvement initiatives across the global supply chain. This position plays a key role in reducing construction-related defects, improving first-pass yield, supporting CAPA execution, and helping protect brand equity, customer satisfaction, and margin.

This position will report to the VP, Vendor Quality & Compliance.

What You Will Do

Factory Quality Management

  • Monitor factory quality performance across assigned vendors and manufacturing facilities.

  • Evaluate factory capability and readiness for new product categories and production launches.

  • Lead factory onboarding activities from a quality perspective.

  • Conduct factory visits and production assessments to verify compliance with company standards.

  • Help drive reduction in Cost of Poor Quality through defect prevention, rework reduction, improved first-pass yield, and stronger vendor execution.

  • Support the integration of Pivot 88 with our factories, including data-driven quality dashboards, and AI-enabled defect detection.

Team Leadership, Change Management & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with regional QA teams and attend Virtual Quality calls.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Technical Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and vendors to ensure construction quality requirements are understood and implemented early.

  • Use quality performance data to identify trends, recommend actions, and communicate business impact to leadership.

  • Support change initiatives that improve factory construction capabilities and vendor technical standards.

Vendor Management & Process Excellence

  • Support vendor quality scorecard reviews and help drive measurable construction performance improvements across strategic vendors.

  • Ensure QA processes support global safety, labeling, durability, and import requirements related to garment finishing and component integrity.

  • Champion durable construction as a key driver of customer satisfaction, brand reputation, and long-term sustainability.

Success Metrics

  • Reduction in construction-related customer returns

  • Improvement in first-pass yield rates across strategic vendors

  • Reduction in Cost of Poor Quality

  • On-time CAPA closure for critical defects

  • Vendor quality scorecard improvements year-over-year

  • Reduction in bulk production holds due to construction failures

What You Can Bring

  • 4-5 years of experience in apparel quality assurance, quality control, or a related technical role.

  • Experience managing apparel quality control processes across international production environments.

  • Proficiency interpreting and applying AQL standards for large-scale production.

  • Familiarity with PLM system Centric, tech packs, and Pivot 88.

  • Ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations and corrective actions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors, factories, and cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and vendor partners in a fast-paced, global environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile/Apparel Science, Fashion Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally for up to 25% for factory engagement and performance reviews.

Where We Are

  • This role will be based in our El Segundo Headquarters.
