• Perform initial mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific emotional and psychological needs, enabling tailored treatment planning.
• Lead both individual and group therapy sessions, employing therapeutic techniques to address life challenges such as grief, loss, and age-related transitions.
• Work collaboratively with a dedicated healthcare team, including nurses and medical practitioners, to develop comprehensive care plans and adjust treatment as necessary.
• Educate clients, their families, and other staff members about emotional health strategies and interventions designed to enhance quality of life for geriatric individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for both residents and their families, providing empathetic support during end-of-life situations.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and other mental health interventions to actively engage elderly clients and promote their mental acuity.

Your primary focus will be on senior adults facing various mental health challenges, including those related to significant life transitions, loss, and chronic health conditions. Building strong relationships with your clients through understanding and trust will be paramount in this role.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in the state of Florida.
• At least 4 years of recent, relevant experience providing mental health counseling for elderly populations.
• Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic interventions and frameworks specific to geriatric mental health.
• Demonstrable skills in conducting thorough mental health assessments and developing personalized treatment plans.
• Strong communication skills that enable effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Personable, empathetic, and culturally aware to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.

• Additional certifications or training in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience in a telehealth setting, proficient with relevant digital tools and platforms.
• Understanding of ethical and legal standards related to geriatric counseling.
