Responsibilities
Octave is seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Analytics Manager to lead our analytics function and help turn data into better business decisions. This is a player-coach role for a leader who can develop a high-performing team, establish scalable reporting and governance practices, and personally deliver the analyses and narratives that senior leaders use to act.
You will partner across the organization to define trusted metrics, improve self-service insight, prioritize a growing analytics portfolio, and expand our use of advanced analytics and AI-enabled capabilities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analytics and BI professionals; set priorities, establish clear expectations, and build team capability.
  • Partner with executives and business leaders to translate strategic questions into actionable analysis, KPIs, dashboards, and recommendations.
  • Personally lead complex, high-visibility analyses and present clear, decision-ready findings to senior executive stakeholders.
  • Build and evolve governed reporting practices, including metric definitions, data quality standards, semantic models, documentation, dashboard standards, and certification.
  • Balance self-service analytics with appropriate controls for data quality, security, consistency, and access.
  • Guide appropriate use of statistical methods, experimentation, forecasting, segmentation, regression, and machine-learning techniques.
  • Work closely with data engineering, data science, IT, security, and business teams to improve analytics products and data reliability.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to improve analytical, coding, documentation, research, and communication workflows, validating outputs and protecting sensitive information.
  • Identify and deliver AI-enabled analytics solutions, such as conversational BI, natural-language data exploration, intelligent alerting, anomaly detection, forecasting, workflow automation, or insight-generation capabilities.

Education / Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related); Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, decision science, data analysis, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, hiring, performance management, and team prioritization.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse).
  • Experience with enterprise BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Salesforce Einstein, or similar.
  • Experience building governed reporting environments, including KPIs, semantic models, documentation, lineage, security, and self-service analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, experimentation, forecasting, regression, and analytical problem solving.
  • Experience applying AI/ML concepts and AI-enabled tools, including model evaluation, prompt design, responsible AI, data privacy, and delivering AI-driven analytics or business solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong business judgment and commitment to data quality, governance, and ethical AI practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or scaling an enterprise analytics, BI, or decision science organization.
  • Familiarity with analytics engineering and data orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, or Matillion.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML solutions, including LLM applications, RAG, predictive modeling, recommendation engines, or workflow automation.
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Azure AI, Snowflake Cortex AI, Google Vertex AI, or OpenAI-compatible services.
