Job description

Optum is a global organization that delivers care, aided by technology to help millions of people live healthier lives. The work you do with our team will directly improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data and resources they need to feel their best. Here, you will find talented peers, comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities. Come make an impact on the communities we serve as you help us advance health equity on a global scale. Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

FlexCare is seeking a Director of Data Product & Analytics Strategy to own the company's data assets, technology and analytics products, and data roadmap. This role sits at the intersection of product ownership, data, and finance, and is responsible for turning data into a strategic lever for business performance and growth.

The Director will ensure FlexCare's data improves profitability through OKR and red flag reporting, delivers trusted and authoritative financial and operational numbers (including month-end close), and drives innovation by owning and prioritizing a portfolio of data and AI-enabled products (e.g., AI intake automation). Additionally, this role will chart the company's long-term path forward across data, analytics, and AI capabilities, while unlocking new revenue opportunities through manufacturer data partnerships.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product Ownership of Growth-Driving Technologies and Performance Analytics
    • Serve as product owner for a portfolio of growth-driving technologies and FlexCare's performance analytics suite. Define, prioritize, and deliver solutions in partnership with leaders across sales, operations, intake, revenue cycle, and finance, ensuring each product is directly tied to measurable business outcomes
    • Within the performance analytics suite, partner with functional leaders to define, measure, and improve objectives and key results. Build and manage Red Flag reporting as a core product, surfacing issues while they are still actionable and iterate based on frontline adoption and feedback. Equip leaders with the measurement and escalation tools they need to move their numbers, including analytics, to support sales bracket discussions, with success measured by operational outcomes rather than deliverables shipped
  • Strategic Planning and Roadmap
    • Inventory FlexCare's current data capabilities and own a multi-year data, analytics, and AI roadmap and budget tied to business OKRs and Optum integration priorities. Lead historical data remediation efforts and deliver a trusted data foundation to serve as a single source of truth to support consistent reporting and decision-making. Lead buy-vs-build evaluations for data, analytics, and AI investments in partnership with the technology and capabilities teams, and present investment recommendations to executive leadership
  • Change Management & Optum Integration
    • Lead the transition from contracted engineering resources to a sustainable long-term operating model, sequencing the handoff to protect critical deliverables, while actively managing the delivery risk inherent in a transition of this scale. Direct analytics and data engineering resources against the roadmap and serve as FlexCare's representative to Optum on all data and analytics matters
  • Manufacturer Data Contracts
    • Manage and expand the portfolio of manufacturer data and enhanced services agreements, assisting in contract scoping and execution oversight. Oversee pipeline development and maintenance for reliable, compliant data delivery
  • Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
    • Support and enhance the month-end close reporting process, driving accuracy, timeliness, and consistency. Eliminate manual effort through automation, resolve reconciliation issues, and reduce key-person dependency. Establish and maintain a single source of truth for metrics across FlexCare and Optum
  • Industry Leadership & Market Presence
    • Maintain FlexCare's reputation as a data-forward leader in the national infusion market by deepening manufacturer partnerships, incorporating emerging data, analytics, and AI best practices into operations, and representing the company at national industry conferences to inform strategy and execution

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in data, analytics, and data product
  • 5 years of management experience
  • 3 years of experience in infusion and/or specialty pharmacy
  • Proficiency with modern BI and cloud data platforms (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric or Azure, SQL, Python, or equivalent), including applied machine learning and generative AI, and familiarity with AI governance in a HIPAA-regulated environment

Location & Travel

  • Remote
  • Travel required

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to: CEO/COO of FlexCare Infusion Centers
  • Direct reports: None at inception; potential for long-term team growth
  • Dotted line reports: Data Engineering Team
  • Works closely with: Enterprise technology, operations, and finance teams

*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy
