Position Overview:
Seeking a Senior AWS Architect to lead the design, setup, and configuration of AWS accounts, infrastructure, and networking for the company's new AWS cloud environment. This role is critical to ensuring a secure, scalable, and efficient cloud architecture that aligns with GE Aerospace's strategic priorities and FLIGHT DECK lean operating model. The Senior AWS Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs while adhering to industry best practices and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. AWS Account Setup and Configuration:
    1. Design and implement AWS account structures, including multi-account strategies using AWS Organizations.
    2. Configure Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles, policies, and permissions to ensure secure access control.
    3. Establish billing and cost management practices to optimize cloud spend.
  2. Infrastructure Design and Deployment:
    1. Architect scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and others.
    2. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation.
    3. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations for critical workloads.
  3. Networking and Security:
    1. Design and configure Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, route tables, and security groups.
    2. Implement secure connectivity solutions, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid cloud architectures.
    3. Ensure compliance with GE Aerospace's security standards, including encryption, monitoring, and logging.
  4. Continuous Improvement and Automation:
    1. Develop automated deployment pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
    2. Optimize infrastructure for performance, cost, and scalability.
    3. Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with FLIGHT DECK principles.
  5. Collaboration and Leadership:
    1. Partner with application teams, DevOps engineers, and security teams to deliver integrated solutions.
    2. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and engineers.
    3. Act as a subject matter expert for AWS services and cloud architecture.
  6. Documentation and Governance:
    1. Create and maintain detailed documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and processes.
    2. Establish governance frameworks for cloud operations, including tagging strategies and compliance monitoring.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 5 years focused on AWS.
    • Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale AWS environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and more.
    • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and IaC tools (e.g., CloudFormation).
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
    • AWS Certified Advanced Networking preferred
