What is a Remote AEM Content Author?

A Remote AEM Content Author is a professional who creates, edits, and manages digital content within the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform, while working remotely. Their responsibilities typically include uploading and updating web pages, optimizing content for SEO, and ensuring brand consistency. They collaborate with designers, developers, and marketing teams to deliver engaging online experiences. Working remotely means they perform these tasks from a location outside of the employer’s physical office, often communicating through digital tools. This role requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with content management systems, and a good understanding of web publishing best practices.

How does a Remote AEM Content Author typically collaborate with developers and designers when working on website updates?

As a Remote AEM Content Author, collaboration with developers and designers is often facilitated through project management tools, regular virtual meetings, and shared documentation platforms. Authors are responsible for creating, editing, and publishing content within the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) environment, but they rely on developers to implement technical changes and designers to provide visual assets or style guidance. Clear communication is essential to ensure that content aligns with design standards and technical requirements. Most teams work within agile frameworks, so you'll participate in sprint planning, reviews, and daily standups to stay aligned and address any blockers together.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote AEM Content Author, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote AEM Content Author, you need expertise in content creation, web publishing, and a solid understanding of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), often supported by relevant experience or certifications in AEM. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, digital asset management tools, and content management systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate virtually are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate, timely publishing and seamless digital experiences across web platforms.

Title: Web Content Specialist (Remote)
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Remote

This is a remote role, prefer candidates local to the east coast - candidates must be willing to support EST time zone.

Only W2 candidates are eligible for this position. Third-party or C2C candidates will not be considered

Position Type: Full time, 6-month anticipated assignment.
Department: Corporate Communications

Description:

Our client’s Corporate Communications team is looking for a Platforms Specialist to support a temporary leave for approximately six months. You’ll own the day-to-day publishing and upkeep of our external website and intranet—making sure content shows up where it should, looks the way it should, and stays healthy over time.

The role also lands at an important moment: we’re in the middle of a major content cleanup tied to a migration and replatform/redesign of client . A meaningful share of the work is wrangling legacy content—reviewing, tidying, retagging, archiving, republishing—at volume. Not glamorous, but high-impact and genuinely important.

Key Insights:

  • The hiring team is primarily looking for a candidate with a strong Web Content Management background.
  • Hands-on experience managing web content, day-to-day publishing and upkeep of website.
  • Figma and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) are considered nice-to-have and not mandatory.
  • Candidates coming from a strong Web Content Management background should still be considered even if they do not have direct experience with these tools and if they have idea about Figma or AEM.
  • Freelancers may be considered if they have supported large enterprise organizations, but candidates without corporate/enterprise experience would not be preferred.

What you’ll do

  • Publish and maintain content on Client’s external website (Adobe Experience Manager) and intranet.
  • Partner with designers, writers, and editors to build pages within our established design system and brand guidelines.
  • Triage and execute content requests from across the business. Requests come via email, Teams, and ad hoc conversations rather than a ticketing system, so clear communication and keeping your own record of what’s in flight is essential.
  • Make judgment calls. If an asset is missing or a request is ambiguous, dig in and propose a solution rather than waiting to be told what to do.
  • Run ongoing audits of site and intranet health—metadata, accuracy, broken links, outdated pages—and fix what you find.
  • Contribute directly to our content cleanup and migration effort at scale.

What we’re looking for

  • Genuinely self-directed. You take a goal, ask the right questions, and run with it. Micromanagement isn’t our style.
  • Strong communicator across email, Teams, and meetings—able to chase down decisions and keep stakeholders informed without being asked.
  • Bias toward action and problem-solving.
  • Tolerance (ideally, some enthusiasm) for detailed, repetitive work done well. Enterprise content cleanup is a grind.
  • Exacting attention to detail. Typos and broken links should bother you.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or
  • HS Diploma or GED (minimum) or Associate's Degree with **significant** practical experience (2-3+ years supporting enterprise content management).

Skills & Experience

  • Some hands-on experience publishing in a web content management system. The specific platform matters less than understanding how content management works—we’ll get you up to speed on our AEM build.
  • Familiarity with web and metadata standards (Schema.org, Open Graph, Google Core Web Vitals).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Strong Web Content Management experience
  • Experience managing digital content platforms and publishing workflows
  • Enterprise/corporate environment experience preferred
  • AEM/Figma exposure is a plus but not a mandatory requirement

Nice to have

  • Enterprise CMS and/or DAM experience.
  • Comfort using Figma to mock up page layouts from existing components.
  • Light writing or editing chops.

Interview Process:

  •  Supervisor Title: Senior Manager, Platforms & Experience
