What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ad Operations Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ad Operations Specialist, you need a solid understanding of digital advertising, campaign management, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with ad servers (such as Google Ad Manager), programmatic platforms, analytics tools, and industry certifications like the IAB Digital Media Certification is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing remote workflows and collaborating with clients and teams. These competencies are essential for ensuring campaigns run smoothly, optimizing performance, and achieving client goals in a fast-paced digital environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote Ad Operations roles, and how can they be managed effectively?

Professionals in remote Ad Operations often encounter challenges such as coordinating with cross-functional teams across different time zones, maintaining clear communication with clients, and ensuring accurate campaign implementation without in-person oversight. To manage these effectively, it's essential to leverage project management and communication tools, establish regular check-ins, and document processes thoroughly. Proactively addressing potential miscommunications and setting clear expectations with stakeholders can help ensure campaigns run smoothly and deadlines are met.

What are Remote Ad Operations?

Remote Ad Operations refers to managing and optimizing digital advertising campaigns from a remote location, rather than working onsite at an office. Professionals in this role are responsible for implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting online ads across various platforms, ensuring campaigns run smoothly and meet clients' objectives. They work closely with sales, marketing, and technical teams to maximize the effectiveness of advertising efforts, using tools like ad servers, analytics platforms, and reporting dashboards. This role typically requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with digital advertising technologies.

Job description

As Closed Loop evolves its programmatic and ad operations practice, we're looking for a Programmatic Ad Operations Coordinator who lives for operational excellence and campaign hygiene. This is a person who takes real pride in clean data, accurate builds, and consistent execution; who masters the system and then sees the opportunities to streamline and evolve it as they work.

Ad Operations is where strategy becomes flawless execution. You'll be the person making sure campaigns, tracking, taxonomy, and creative are built accurately and consistently across our clients so the media team can stay focused on strategy, optimization, and growth. It's an internal, behind-the-scenes role, where you will partner closely with our Digital Ad Managers rather than manage clients directly. We've built a clear blueprint for how campaigns get set up and QA'd; your job is to own it, execute it precisely, and help us evolve it as we scale.

We're a remote-first, entrepreneurial team, and we'll invest in teaching you our approach. If you're organized, process-oriented, endlessly detail-conscious, and a little obsessed with getting things right, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

  • Build campaigns in-platform. Traffic and build programmatic campaigns and creatives across our DSPs - primarily StackAdapt (our main DSP), plus DV360 and MNTN - following approved media plans and our established taxonomy.
  • Own the QA. QA and test creatives and ads before launch: verify every unit is trafficked correctly, serving properly, and reporting accurately.
  • Protect measurement. Monitor and QA floodlights, pixels, and tracked events so campaign measurement is clean and reliable.
  • Watch pacing & delivery. Audit spend pacing and delivery daily, catch issues early (under-delivery, spikes, discrepancies), and raise them promptly to the Digital Ad Managers.
  • Keep it clean. Build to our approved taxonomy and naming conventions, and keep the internal tag mapping document accurate and up to date.
  • Strengthen the system. Help build and maintain the operational backbone - QA checklists, trackers, naming conventions, launch calendars - and flag ways to make the whole process cleaner and faster as you learn it.
  • Troubleshoot. Troubleshoot delivery, tracking, and creative issues, and support the Digital Ad Managers with monitoring and reporting as needed.
  • Learn & contribute. Stay curious - learn how each platform actually works, ask good questions, and bring ideas back to the team on how we can execute better.
  • Communicate. Communicate clearly and consistently with the Digital Advertising team - concise updates, early flags, no surprises.

What You'll Have:

  • Operational-excellence mindset. You take genuine pride in clean, organized, accurate work, and structure energizes you rather than boxes you in. You're happiest with a solid checklist, a well-built spreadsheet, and a calendar that keeps everything on track.
  • Process-oriented but agile. You follow a documented process precisely - and as you work it, you naturally spot ways to streamline and improve it. You want to be trusted and facilitated, not micromanaged or told what to do at every turn.
  • Detail-obsessed. Sharp attention to detail and real pride in campaign and data hygiene - the small things being right genuinely matter to you.
  • Programmatic foundation. 2+ years of hands-on experience building or trafficking digital campaigns, ideally in a DSP (programmatic display, video, CTV, native, or similar). We care more about the reps and the instincts than the logo on the resume.
  • Genuinely curious. A real interest in programmatic media and the mechanics behind campaigns - you like understanding how things work under the hood.
  • Strong communicator. Clear, concise written and verbal communication - early flags, no surprises.
  • Fast learner. Ability to pick up new software and platforms quickly.
  • Nice to have. Comfort in spreadsheets and analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.), plus agency, B2B, or lead-generation exposure, are all pluses.

What's In It For You?:

  • A rare chance to help evolve and own the operational backbone of a growing practice - mentored by a team that's building it with you.
  • Work remotely for a company built for remote work. We've always been remote, and our structure, processes, and culture reflect that.
  • Competitive salary ($60,000-$75,000/yr, DOE) and a flexible time-off policy.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus 401(k) matching and an FSA.
  • Work with top-tier, growing brands, alongside colleagues who value skill and teamwork over fancy rhetoric.

Our Core Values:

  • Ownership. Take pride and ownership of your work, your successes, your failures, your development, and your life.
  • Positivity. Life can be negative - we choose to be positive. The easy path can be to tear others down; we choose to lift others up.
  • Entrepreneurial. Inspire others with your will to succeed, learn, improve, innovate, compete, and win. The best idea wins.
  • No Assholes. Be transparent and ego-less. Only say things about fellow employees you'd say to their face.

Interested? Complete the application, upload your resume, and submit your best cover letter - we actually read them! As part of our process, candidates must successfully complete reference and background checks before employment begins.
