988 Crisis Services Clinician - Night Shift (Remote)

When the world is quiet, crisis doesn't stop. As a Night Shift 988 Crisis Services Clinician, you'll be the trusted clinical leader supporting callers, chat, and text contacts during overnight hours-providing calm, expert guidance in moments of highest need.
This role is ideal for experienced clinicians who prefer nights , value autonomy, and thrive as the senior clinical presence during overnight operations.
Schedule Designed for Night Owls
  • Night Shift: Thursday-Saturday, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM (Pacific Time)
  • Call Team assignment
  • Fully remote (candidates must reside in WA, AZ, OH, or TX)

988 Crisis Services provides free, confidential, telephone-based crisis support across King County and Washington State. Our mission is to foster resilience and wellbeing by connecting people to compassionate, accessible care - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overnight clinicians play a critical leadership role, ensuring safety and continuity of care during the most vulnerable hours.
Position Summary
The Crisis Services Clinician (988) is a qualified Mental Health Professional who oversees 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline contacts via phone, chat, and text. This role provides advanced risk assessment, clinical decision-making, and real-time consultation while supervising a multidisciplinary overnight team of clinical and paraprofessional staff.
Graveyard clinicians are relied upon for strong judgment, calm leadership, and confident decision-making during high-acuity situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical oversight and support to Crisis Specialists and Crisis Intervention Specialists during scheduled overnight shifts
  • Support staff with suicide risk assessment, de-escalation, and crisis intervention
  • Ensure appropriate linkage to Mobile Crisis Teams, Designated Crisis Responders, Next Day Appointments, and other community resources
  • Provide real-time coaching, consultation, and feedback to staff
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
  • Ensure compliance with all 988 program standards, policies, and procedures
  • Promote a professional, respectful, and supportive virtual team environment

Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Mental Health Professional (MHP) status as defined by Washington State
  • Active Washington State credential or license, including:
    • LICSW or LSWAIC
    • LMHC or LMHCA
    • LMFT or LMFTA
    • Psychologist or Psychiatrist
    • Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC)
  • Minimum of two years of crisis intervention experience
  • Strong verbal, written, and typing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, fast-paced overnight environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Call center, hotline, or telephone assessment experience
  • Experience within public mental health systems (especially King County)
  • Additional training or certification in suicide prevention or trauma-informed care

Compensation & Union Representation
  • $37.24 per hour + $4.00 an hour differential for working the night shift.
