SUMMARY

The Account Manager serves as the primary relationship owner for an assigned book of business, responsible for delivering high-quality client service, managing account retention and growth, and ensuring an exceptional overall client experience. This role oversees the full policy lifecycle, including renewals, coverage coordination, and ongoing account servicing, while acting as a trusted advisor to clients, carriers, and internal partners. The Account Manager plays a key role in driving client retention, identifying coverage needs, and supporting new and renewal business opportunities. This position requires strong insurance knowledge, independent judgment, and a proactive, service-oriented approach to account management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and service an assigned book of business, ensuring strong client relationships, high retention, and consistent service quality. Execute agency account servicing procedures, including:

a. New business support

b. Renewals

c. Endorsements

d. Cancellations

e. Audits

f. Billing and financing

g. Certificates, EPI, and schedules of insurance

h. Payments

i. Quotes

j. Claims coordination and support

Lead renewal strategy and execution by proactively managing renewal timelines, identifying coverage gaps, remarketing accounts when appropriate, and collaborating closely with producers throughout the renewal process. Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by maintaining a strong understanding of their business needs, risk exposures, and insurance programs. Proactively identify opportunities to improve coverage, enhance client protection, and support account retention and growth. Maintain current knowledge of insurance coverages, industry trends, carrier guidelines, and available markets through ongoing education and professional development. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all client activity within agency management systems and carrier platforms. Maintain strong working relationships with clients, carriers, producers, and internal team members to ensure seamless service delivery. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and renewal discussions as needed alongside producers or independently as appropriate. Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by agency leadership.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible insurance experience considered.
5+ years of insurance account management, client service, or commercial lines experience required.
Demonstrated experience independently managing an assigned book of business or complex client accounts.
Strong, working knowledge of Minnesota insurance regulations and applicable insurance laws.
Advanced understanding of Property & Casualty insurance coverages, policy language, endorsements, and coverage interpretation.
Experience advising clients or producers on coverage options, renewals, and risk exposures strongly preferred.
Active Minnesota Property & Casualty Insurance License required.
Advanced proficiency with agency management systems, carrier portals, and Microsoft Office applications, including ability to use systems for account tracking, renewal management, and reporting.

Communicates clearly, confidently, and professionally with clients, carriers, producers, and internal teams. Explains insurance coverage concepts in a way that supports client understanding and informed decision-making.
Independently manages an assigned book of business, ensuring timely execution of renewals, servicing activities, and client deliverables with a high degree of accuracy and follow-through.
Evaluates client risk exposures, coverage needs, and policy structures to support renewal strategy and account recommendations within agency guidelines.
Identifies issues, evaluates options, and applies sound judgment to resolve client and account-related challenges while balancing agency standards and client needs.
Effectively manages multiple accounts, deadlines, and workflows simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and strong attention to detail.
Works effectively with producers, carriers, and internal team members to support account strategy, retention goals, and client service delivery. Demonstrates willingness to step in and support broader team needs when required.
Maintains the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all client and internal interactions, particularly when handling sensitive client information.
Adapts quickly to changing client needs, market conditions, carrier requirements, and internal priorities while maintaining a strong service standard.
Actively maintains and expands knowledge of insurance coverages, markets, carrier appetites, and industry trends through ongoing professional development.
Utilizes agency management systems, carrier platforms, and Microsoft Office tools to efficiently manage accounts, track renewals, and support accurate documentation and reporting.

Other duties as assigned.

Interstate travel as job requires.

JOB EXPECTATIONS
Days of work are Monday through Friday during standard business hours. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Approximate Salary Range for this Role: $80,000 - $95,000
This role is also eligible for discretionary bonus.

Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
