Role: Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) โ€“ Inpatient Psychiatric Setting

Location: New Baltimore, MI

Work Model: Onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time

Client is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) to support nursing leadership operations within an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting in New Baltimore, Michigan. The ADON will assist the DON/CNO in directing, planning, coordinating, and supervising nursing operations and behavioral health services while ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational excellence.

This leadership role requires strong psychiatric nursing experience, inpatient behavioral health leadership expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment focused on patient safety and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist DON/CNO in managing nursing operations and behavioral health services
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
  • Supervise nursing staff and ensure compliance with clinical standards
  • Oversee staffing requirements and daily nursing operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations
  • Assist with budget management and resource utilization
  • Participate in hiring, staff development, performance management, and training
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
  • Manage documentation systems and continuity of care processes
  • Intervene in crisis situations and investigate incidents
  • Prepare operational and quality reports for leadership
  • Support patient care delivery as needed

Required QualificationsEducation
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher strongly preferred
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current RN License in Michigan (or compact eligibility if applicable)
  • CPR Certification required
  • De-escalation / Restraint Certification required (training available)
  • First Aid Certification may be required
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year progressive leadership or management experience required
  • Minimum 1 year behavioral health / psychiatric / addiction recovery experience required
  • Inpatient psychiatric hospital experience required
  • RN leadership experience in inpatient psychiatric setting strongly preferred
  • Nursing management experience strongly preferred
  • Union hospital environment experience highly preferred
