Job description

Accounting Clerk I CO

American Stone is hiring a full-time Accounting Clerk to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, reconciliations, payroll support, and day-to-day accounting operations. This role works with financial records, spreadsheets, accounting systems, and internal reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $15 to $18.50 per hour

We are looking for someone with real hands-on accounting experience who is comfortable handling AP, AR, invoices, billing, reconciliations, and detailed financial data with accuracy and minimal supervision. Candidates should be detail-oriented, dependable, organized, and comfortable learning and working within ERP/database systems.

This is a primarily on-site position based in Murray, UT. Candidates must currently be located in Utah and available to work in-office as needed. American Stone does not provide relocation assistance for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable, including invoices, vendor payments, and purchase orders using Odoo
  • Assist with payroll processing, including supporting tax-related tasks (Forms 940, 941, W-2, 1099), deductions, and withholdings
  • Enter production and commission data for quarry and sales employees
  • Process inter-company billing and transactions
  • Maintain DOT compliance documentation, including driver files and logs
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining government and compliance reports (payroll taxes, IFTA, sales tax, MSHA, new hire reporting)
  • Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations, inventory tracking, and cost reporting
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams to ensure accurate records
  • Assist with onboarding paperwork, mail handling, and maintaining compliance records

Qualifications

Required

  • Candidates must be willing to provide professional references during the hiring process
  • At least 3 months of real accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, or financial data entry experience (not including school/coursework only)
  • Experience working with invoices, billing, reconciliations, or financial records
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, sorting, filters, and basic formulas
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to follow processes and work accurately with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable learning and working within ERP/database systems

Preferred

  • Coursework in accounting, business, or finance
  • Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Peachtree, or similar)
  • Spanish is a plus

Schedule

Monday to Friday. 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (schedule may vary slightly based on business needs)
