Job description

Business Title: Reliability and Maintainability Engineer

Location: Everett, WA (Onsite)

Job Description Summary:

  • The selected candidate will help design, certify & support commercial airplanes by applying state-of-art reliability and maintainability engineering design, modeling, and analysis principles. R&M Engineering is a key functional discipline that supports the airplane development for optimal performance, lifecycle economics & compliance to safety and airworthiness requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Use modeling, simulation and data analytics methodologies & tools including statistical and probabilistic analyses.
  • Serve as a technical specialist supporting other functional design groups during all stages of the airplane product development and support lifecycle.
  • Responsible for aiding in determining program technical performance measures (TPMs) such as schedule reliability, airplane operational availability & maintenance cost.

Provide support in the following areas:

  • Design for Reliability & Safety (airplane and system design reliability requirements validation & verification, reliability requirements allocation to suppliers, failure modes, rates, effects, propagation and detection analysis, architecture & operational provisions, safety & certification analysis, certification support, reliability & durability testing).
  • Interaction with airplane system suppliers, business partners, airline customers, airplane development program leaders, and functional management is typical, as is a high level of communication between the rest of the R&M Engineering internal organization, program teams, and functional design areas. Team involvement and individual effort, problem solving, and managing multiple actions and assignments will be regular duties for an R&M engineer.
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years'' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years'' related work experience, Master+7 years'' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with propulsion or airplane systems
  • Reliability engineering experience.
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) experience.
  • Commercial Airplane Certification experience.
