Job description

Who we are

We solve the hardest problem in store operations. Ordering standard products is easy. Ordering the right amount of bakery, meat, dairy, fish, and produce - so stores stop wasting and stop running out - is not. That is what we build for.

IDA was founded in 2023 as an applied AI company from day one. Acquired by RELEX Solutions in late 2025, we now own fresh store-level applications across the RELEX ecosystem. A small team by design, where everyone ships work that matters. We operate with short decision-making chains, real autonomy, and a culture where feedback is direct and impact is measured, without ego.

We value people who are honest about what works and what does not, who take ownership of hard problems end to end, and who would rather build something tonight than schedule a meeting about it next week.

The role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to be our first hire in the US, embedded in our largest and fastest-growing market. You will be the technical face of RELEX Fresh to US grocery retailers - combining engineering ability with real customer presence. You will own high-impact AI deployments from pre-sales to production, working directly with customers to ensure our solutions deliver measurable business outcomes.

What you'll do
  • Engage across the full customer organization: from C-suite to the shop floor. You own relationships at every level, from the executive sponsor setting the mandate to the store staff running your solution day to day
  • Lead requirements end-to-end: gather, understand, workshop, challenge, and agree on what customers actually need, not just what they ask for. You are the person who makes sure we build the right thing
  • Write production code: you will build and ship the core solution directly, and collaborate with central engineers to contribute improvements back into the product. Your code runs in live customer environments
  • Own the outcomes: KPI delivery on the customer side, solution performance, and SLAs. You are accountable until it works, and you know what "works" means in measurable terms
What you'll bring
  • Deep engineering experience in a related field
  • Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals and proven experience deploying ML or AI solutions into production
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data stacks
  • Strong business acumen, able to translate technical work into measurable financial impact and communicate it clearly
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and taking full ownership of outcomes
  • Comfortable using AI in your everyday work and developing AI tool adoption as an organisational strategy
What we offer
  • Flexibility in how and where you work
  • Room to grow in a fast-moving global company with a strong market position
  • Practical benefits supporting work, family, wellness, and everyday life
  • Ownership, autonomy, and flat hierarchies
  • Work that meaningfully reduces waste and improves sustainability
  • A diverse, inclusive, and supportive work culture
  • Two paid volunteering days each year
Before you apply
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States. This role does not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • You must be based in the US and available for regular domestic travel to customer sites. This is a field-embedded role, not a remote position.
  • You have direct experience working with US enterprise or mid-market customers in a technical or solutions capacity. Candidates without US customer-facing experience will not be considered.

We are a global community of different cultures, voices, and experiences. We celebrate what makes us unique and connect through what we share, in an authentic and safe environment.

Apply today and be part of the future.
