What You'll Do

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

PURPOSE:

The Director - Distribution Center Warehousing has accountability for driving all distribution center and warehouse operational staff planning, performance, continuous improvement, safety, and training/development. This role has responsibility for strategy and execution in areas of performance, inventory control, cost management, talent development and customer service standards. This person will also participate in the duties and responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Strong communication skills - written, verbal and with an emphasis on timeliness.
  • Leadership capabilities that support ongoing talent development initiatives.
  • Participate in and support recruiting, hiring, performance management and associate evaluations.
  • Support direct-report managers in effective staffing of associates to align with facility peak times/seasons.
  • Develop/support the scaling of operational processes to align with Company and facility growth.
  • Establish performance goals and support facility leadership in developing and carrying out plans to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.
  • Effective P&L management and understanding.
  • Understand and effectively manage automation systems and approaches to optimize facility performance.
  • Act as forward-facing representative of the operation with company peers, leadership, branch managers, sales associates and our customer and vendor partners.
  • Foster healthy working relationship with Sales Leaders to develop short and long-term strategies that support growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Work with Transportation Team to create/promote best-in-class logistics platform.
  • Work with other Operations teams within Crawford and SUSA to share best-practice and process improvement.
  • Project manage facility-related construction projects, expansions, reconfigurations, process implementations, etc.
  • Use multiple software systems to manage transactional accounting, reporting, data analysis and other management functions.
  • Enforce all Sonepar business and operational policies, ensure that controls are in place and operating as planned.

What You Bring

  • College degree in a Supply Chain, Operations or Logistics field with 5+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Proven experience leading a larger distribution center environment (150,000 - 350,000 SF or 100+ HC).
  • Strategic thinker and hands-on problem solver that possesses integrity and leadership.
  • High level of business acumen, including creating and managing a budget, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient use of MS Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Power BI, and Internet. Exposure to Eclipse ERP, warehouse management systems and/or prior experience with automation systems is preferred.
