What is a relationship coach?

Relationship coaches are professionals who help individuals and couples identify and overcome challenges in their personal relationships. They provide guidance, support, and practical tools to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen connections. Unlike therapists, relationship coaches typically focus on present and future goals rather than delving deeply into past issues. They work with clients on a variety of topics, including dating, marriage, family dynamics, and building healthy relationship habits.

How do you become a relationship coach?

To become a relationship coach, individuals typically complete training or certification programs in coaching, psychology, or counseling, and develop strong communication and interpersonal skills. While formal certification is not always required, it can enhance credibility and effectiveness in helping clients improve their relationships.

How much money do relationship coaches make?

Relationship coaches typically earn between $30,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and client base. Many work independently or through coaching platforms, and income can vary based on certifications, marketing skills, and hours worked.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relationship coach?

To thrive as a Relationship Coach, you need a strong background in counseling, psychology, or coaching, often supported by relevant certifications such as ICF or relationship coaching credentials. Familiarity with client management software, assessment tools, and ongoing professional development courses is typically required. Exceptional listening, empathy, nonjudgmental communication, and conflict resolution skills help build rapport and trust with clients. These skills are vital for guiding individuals and couples towards healthier relationships and effective interpersonal growth.

What are some common challenges relationship coaches face when working with clients, and how are these typically addressed?

Relationship Coaches often encounter challenges such as overcoming client resistance to change, navigating deeply rooted communication issues, and managing emotionally charged situations. Coaches address these by establishing a trusting, non-judgmental environment, using evidence-based techniques like active listening and goal-setting, and encouraging open, honest dialogue between clients. Regular professional development and supervision also help coaches stay equipped to handle complex dynamics and support clients effectively.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced coach with deep, hands-on experience in relationship and marriage-focused coaching. This is not a surface-level role - it requires maturity, emotional intelligence, and real-world exposure to relationship transformation work.
This role is ideal for someone who has spent significant time coaching individuals or couples through marital conflict, emotional disconnection, trust breakdown, separation, reconciliation, or long-term relationship rebuilding. You hold space for difficult conversations, offer direct yet compassionate guidance, and translate complex emotional dynamics into clear, actionable steps.
What You'll Do
Coaching & Client Support
  • Deliver high-impact 1:1 and group coaching sessions focused on marriage dynamics, emotional regulation, communication, trust repair, and personal accountability
  • Guide clients through emotionally charged situations with clarity, structure, and proven frameworks
  • Help clients move from crisis and confusion to stability, leadership, and long-term behavioral change

Client Experience & Retention
  • Track client progress across emotionally complex journeys, identifying risks, resistance patterns, and breakthrough moments
  • Proactively intervene when clients struggle with consistency, emotional setbacks, or decision paralysis
  • Contribute insights to continuously improve coaching frameworks and client outcomes

Requirements
Experience
  • Proven background coaching individuals or couples through marriage conflict, emotional disconnection, trust breakdown, separation, or reconciliation
  • Comfortable working with clients in high emotional distress - balancing empathy with firmness, challenging avoidance patterns, and maintaining authority in difficult conversations

Communication
  • Strong verbal skills - able to explain complex emotional dynamics in a grounded, practical way
  • Confident facilitating group discussions on sensitive topics

Operational
  • Organised, reliable, and comfortable operating within a structured program

Coaching Expertise
  • Direct experience in relationship, marriage, or couples coaching is required. Relevant certifications or qualifications - such as ICF, Gottman Method, EFT, IFS, SYMBIS, PAIRS, PREP, BCC, or LMFT/LPC/LCSW - will be a strong plus.

Salary:
  • Hourly rate: 50 USD
  • Plus commission on client upgrades

Benefits
  • Work from Anywhere - Fully remote position, work from wherever you're most productive
  • Flexible Hours - Structure your workday in a way that fits your life while still meeting team needs
  • Ongoing Growth - Access to ongoing training, resources, and development opportunities to sharpen your skills
  • Ownership & Impact - You won't just fill a role - you'll build something meaningful at a company that changes lives every day
  • Leadership Collaboration - Work closely with founders and department leads, with direct influence on how the business grows
  • Commission Opportunities: Receive bonuses through commission on all additional purchases made by your clients
