Overview
We are seeking an Orthopedic Registered Nurse, internally referred to as our Medical Surgical RN, on the 7th floor Tower at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden, AL), a member of Prime Healthcare. An orthopedic registered nurse (RN) is a registered nurse who specializes in the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. They work with patients who have experienced injuries, undergone orthopedic surgery, or have long-term musculoskeletal conditions. Their duties include patient assessment, pain management, wound care, and education about the recovery process.
Shift's Available: Nights ($4 to $8 differential in pay)
Employment Type: Full Time
Hours: 7:00PM - 7:00AM

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
  • conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health
  • monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
  • recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status
  • safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
  • act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met
  • provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
  • communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans

Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
