The region will be predominantly, but not exclusively, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas. There is a travel expectation of up to 50%. The role will be based out of Birmingham or Mobile, Alabama.
This role serves as the key point of contact for all occupational health and safety matters, including regulatory compliance, training, risk assessment, and incident investigation. The Regional EHS Manager works closely with the Director of EHS and ESG, site managers, and employees to foster a strong safety culture, reduce workplace hazards, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. This position requires strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to influence safety practices across multiple teams and locations. This position requires proactive facility walk downs and job site visits. This position will require close coordination with brand operation leadership to support EHS planning and training activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate EHS programs across regional locations to ensure compliance with (e.g. OSHA, EPA) and other applicable local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across regional locations to identify hazards and ensure best practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
  • Help develop, organize, and deliver training programs and materials for employees, supervisors, and contractors on safety topics.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, maintaining accurate records and reporting to the regional company leadership and the Director of EHS and ESG.
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety culture, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, or investigations.
  • Help standardize and enforce safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices across regional locations.
  • Administration of customer and regulatory safety portals and documents directly and/or using 3rd party services.
  • Primary administrator of Safety Management System (Intelex) for the regional locations ensuring the system is updated in a timely matter.
  • Understand, oversee, and communicate all DOT requirements to the regional companies while ensuring the MVR records are compliant.
  • Stay current on industry trends, standards, and regulatory updates, ensuring proactive compliance.
  • Responsible for maintaining KPIs: Brand TRIR, Incident Reporting time, vehicle and site inspection rate, and Corrective Action Report closure rates.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of safety management experience, preferably in a multi-site or regional role.

  • Experience developing and implementing safety programs and conducting audits.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and training facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
