What is a Regional Account Manager?

A Regional Account Manager is a professional responsible for managing and nurturing client relationships within a specific geographic area. They focus on increasing sales, maintaining client satisfaction, and identifying new business opportunities with both existing and prospective customers. Regional Account Managers often collaborate with sales teams, analyze market trends, and develop strategies to achieve regional sales targets. They serve as the main point of contact between the company and its clients in their designated region.

What is the difference between Regional Account vs Sales Representative?

AspectRegional AccountSales Representative
CredentialsTypically requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field; experience in account managementOften requires a high school diploma or equivalent; sales training or experience preferred

The main difference is that a Regional Account manages existing client relationships within a specific region, focusing on account growth and retention, while a Sales Representative primarily seeks new clients and sales opportunities within their territory. Both roles require strong communication skills, but the Regional Account role emphasizes account management expertise, whereas the Sales Representative role centers on sales acquisition.

Regional Account Managers work closely with teams such as marketing, customer service, and product management to ensure client needs are met and sales targets are achieved. They often coordinate with marketing to develop region-specific campaigns, relay customer feedback to product teams for improvements, and collaborate with customer service to resolve client issues quickly. This cross-functional teamwork is crucial for maintaining strong client relationships and driving regional growth.

These skills are crucial for driving revenue growth, retaining key clients, and effectively managing a diverse territory.

This role focuses on sales within the Retail in-store bakery and Deli channel.

What you will be doing as the Regional Account Manager:

This role supports sales growth for our frozen dough and fully baked bread business within an assigned territory. Responsibilities include managing broker networks and calling on distribution centers, retail headquarters, and independent grocery retailers. Candidates must be comfortable meeting with corporate accounts and implementing customized marketing plans across territories and individual accounts

Work experience required:

  • Sales experience in manufacturing, bakery, or related consumer packaged goods is required
  • Experience in the bakery or bread industry is required.

  • Familiarity with key Southeast accounts grocery store fronts is preferred.

Education Requirements: Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred or equivalent relevant sales experience.
