Job description

The Import Operations Manager will provide leadership to the branch and manage a variety of general warehouse activities in an accurate, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the import hub, ensuring efficient movement of inbound freight from ports into the distribution network
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, drayage carriers, and freight partners to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation
  • Coordinate inbound container flow, including scheduling, tracking, unloading, and detention management to minimize delays and additional costs
  • Partner closely with Procurement, Sourcing, Logistics, and Transportation teams to align inbound freight strategy with inventory and demand needs
  • Monitor freight costs, accessorial charges, and carrier performance to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes for receiving, cross-docking, and transferring imported goods to regional distribution centers
  • Ensure accurate inventory handling and system updates to maintain visibility across the supply chain
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture aligned with company standards and OSHA requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to improve throughput, reduce dwell time, and optimize overall import hub performance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to warehouse operations and import handling

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5 years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal OSHA safety and FMCR regulations
  • Experience in forklift certification and inspection, hazmat certification, operating various warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, stock pickers, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift, as needed, heavy objects (occasionally between 60-75 lbs.) with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to work regularly at a height of up to 26 feet above the ground (with provided safety equipment/processes/training)
  • Must have strong leadership and organizations skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule with a "hands-on" management style
  • Must be detail orientated and a team player; Excellent oral and written skills; excellent organizational skills and driven to excel
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Previous AS400 experience a plus
