Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $180,200.00 - $300,300.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 30%, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position Details

The Sr. Director, Distribution Operations provides leadership that optimizes the distribution network to achieve our objectives and ROIC. This role ensures the distribution network is the industry leader in service, quality, productivity, and safety.


You Will

  • Responsible for the operations of a large, complex distribution center that provides regional service and inventory coverage for the network.
  • May require leadership for multiple campuses and satellite buildings.
  • Lead a Pillar team which consists of leaders across the network that create standardized processes and procedures to achieve safety, quality and cost objectives.
  • Lead and develop the Distribution Center leaders and team members by creating and sharing a common vision and understanding of the organization's strategy.
  • Deliver results that achieve the company strategy and expectations; ensure operational excellence across the Distribution Network.
  • Be accountable for $200M+ in inventory in a through-put distribution network serving 1.4M+ customers.
  • Ensure that the proper goals and objectives are set and achieved (Productivity, Safety, Quality and Positive Employee Relations)
  • Ensure the smooth flow of product from supplier to Branch and supplier to customer.
  • Ensure standardization and sharing of best-demonstrated practices across the distribution center network.
  • Drive customer focus and continuous improvement to enable operational excellence.
  • Anticipate the needs of customers and the organization and ensure that the proper tools are developed or acquired to support the fulfillment of those needs.
  • Ensure distribution centers practices, procedures and facilities are in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and Grainger's policies.

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
  • Master's Degree (MBA) preferred
  • 7+ years high level management experience in a high volume, multi-shift, distribution/order fulfillment operation with large employee populations, including 5+ years of demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive employee relations, effective relationships within and across functional boundaries and with suppliers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of distribution, transportation, and inventory management principles and practices with strong customer focus.
  • Ability to promote and lead change. Capable of exploring beyond traditional business practices and altering them in a positive, productive manner. Strong process improvement, problem-solving, analytical and financial management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a large organization through communication of the Company's vision and strategic direction and translating to results oriented actions. Ability to deliver clear messages to all levels of the organization.
