Project Description:
The Refugee and Asylee Mentoring Program (RAMP) is a mentoring program designed to help refugee youth learn and adapt to American culture, while also maintaining and embracing their own heritage by matching them with adult mentors from their local community. Journeyโs End will recruit, train, and provide refugee teenagers ages 15 โ 17 and young adults ages 18-24 with mentors who have the skills to help them reach their full potential as young adults and ease their social and economic integration into our community. Through programs, workshops, and activities specifically designed by Journeyโs End for refugee youth, RAMP addresses both the social needs and the barriers to adjusting to a new culture that refugee youth typically face. Job Description:
The Refugee and Asylee Mentoring Program Coordinator will assist the Program Manager with the implementation and expansion of the Refugee Mentoring Program through outreach, volunteer onboarding, weekly programming, and data tracking.
The Refugee and Asylee Mentoring Program Coordinator must exemplify Journeyโs Endโs core values in their work. These values include intercultural responsiveness, integrity, person-centered, empowerment, and exemplary service.
Primary Responsibilities:
ยท Assist the Program Manager with overall implementation of the program
ยท Participate in recruitment of young people ages 15-17 and young adults 18-24, including tabling at outreach events and responding to program referrals, as well as intake meetings
ยท Assist with design of programmatic materials and group activities for young adult programming
ยท Oversee weekly young adult program meetings and assist with organizing field trips and group events
ยท Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteer mentors and assist with matching mentor pairs
ยท Create and maintain volunteer and client files, and assist with data tracking and grant reporting
ยท Assist with program evaluation, acquiring participant feedback and documenting development of the mentor program
ยท Assist with hosting community education events as outlined in the grant contract
ยท Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
ยท Bachelorโs degree in social work, international relations, education, or other related field.
ยท Experience working in the non-profit field is highly desired, especially a demonstrated success in program development and implementation, and/or working with volunteers
ยท Experience in managing budgets; data collection; and overseeing mandated reporting for grants
ยท Attention to detail, deadlines, and follow-through is essential
ยท Strong collaborative and verbal and written communication skills
ยท Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; and experience developing marketing materials using Canva, Publisher or other publishing program)
ยท Some evening and weekend hours required
ยท Access to reliable transportation
ยท Ability to lift 25 lbs
ยท Bilingual skills preferred, but not necessary
ยท Experience working with young adults, refugees, or vulnerable populations a plus
