PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Referral Associates is currently seeking Veterinary Biller to join their team.

Position Overview

Join our team as a Veterinary Biller who contributes to the success of a high-performing organization committed to delivering superior care and exceptional service. Performs a range of administrative and customer service tasks, providing valuable support to the hospital. Within the veterinary field, this position aligns closely with roles often titled Veterinary Receptionist, Customer Service Representative, or Client Care Specialist.

Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland has earned national recognition as one of the most established and respected specialty veterinary and emergency hospitals in the country — seeing cases from across Maryland and as far as Pennsylvania, with 24/7 emergency care available without an appointment every day of the year including holidays. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and offers an extraordinary breadth of specialty services including dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, surgery, diagnostic imaging, feline radioactive iodine hyperthyroid therapy, and a board-certified veterinary criticalist for life-threatening conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Charge Entry & Auditing:

  • Identify, enter, and verify daily inpatient charges for accuracy
  • Audit and verify daily ultrasound and radiograph charges
  • Audit outpatient bills before finalization
  • Monitor and resolve open PVLs daily

Client Communication & Financial Updates:

  • Provide daily financial updates to inpatient clients, review charges, update estimates, and collect payments throughout hospitalization
  • Create inpatient estimates as requested
  • Answer client billing and invoice questions
  • Respond to daily billing callbacks
  • Review outpatient boarding board and contact clients who departed without payment

Payment Processing & Administrative Support:

  • Enter and reconcile weekly Trupanion payments
  • Maintain accurate electronic financial and medical records
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure proper charge capture
  • Provide call center or front desk coverage as needed

Qualifications (Required)

  • Prior experience in a high-volume veterinary hospital or medical billing role
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to mentally calculate percentages, differences, and totals
  • Ability to read treatment sheets and determine appropriate charges independently
  • Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology and common procedures
  • Exceptional attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with Idexx Cornerstone software is a plus!

Schedule

  • Schedule will be either Sunday to Wednesday or Thursday to Saturday
