Short-Term Assistance Referral (STAR) Coordinator
Bethel, Alaska

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers-the Kuskokwim and Yukon.

Position Summary:
Responsible for collaborating with referrals, resources, and services for consumers who are developmental disabled. Ensure developmental disability eligibility and waitlist forms are completed and submitted to the State and enabling funding to be forthcoming for potential consumers to receive services. Oversee and coordinate all activities related to the Short-term Assistance Referral Grant.
Position Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in the field of Human Services, Special Education, Liberal Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, nursing, or a closely related field preferred.
  • One or more years of previous work in native programs preferred. One year working experience with families and/or DD service providers preferred. One year of related experience and/or training involving developmental disabilities required. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter. CPR and First Aide certification required or willing to complete the class.
  • Experience with office equipment (i.e. computer, multi-line telephone, fax machine, copy machine, scanner, laptop and docking port, and a digital camera).
