Job description

Lead the research engine for Amazon's Principal Engineering Community, the technical spine of the company. You'll build and develop a team of exemplary search practitioners responsible for identifying, engaging, and hiring Principal, Senior Principal, and Distinguished Engineers across Software, Hardware, Network, Data, Systems, and Security disciplines. These are the pragmatic visionaries who set the standard for engineering excellence across Amazon, and you'll be the strategic architect ensuring we find the best engineering talent in the world.
This role offers significant impact and visibility. You'll act as a talent adviser to senior leadership, creating high-impact top-of-funnel initiatives that drive quality engagement with external prospects. You'll develop scalable mechanisms to audit the talent pipeline, produce detailed reports surfacing talent trends, and inspire your team to act quickly on market intelligence. You'll partner directly with recruiting stakeholders and business leaders on organizational design, site strategy, and talent management initiatives that extend beyond immediate recruiting scope.
Key job responsibilities
Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a team of exemplary researchers. Hire great talent and develop great people. Coach your team to become deep subject matter experts in technical domains and inspire creative search strategy.
Strategic Programs: Operate existing and build new research channel programs, recruiting processes, and mechanisms to engage external executive-level technical talent. Accelerate and diversify hiring from the research channel.
Data-Driven Insights: Develop and operationalize reporting mechanisms that yield thematic and actionable insights. Use analytics and data to drive collaborative decision-making and inspire your team to act on market intelligence.
Strategic Partnership: Partner with recruiting stakeholders and clients on organizational design, site strategy, and talent management initiatives beyond immediate recruiting scope (attrition impact, onboarding, training, branding). Act as a talent adviser with strong business acumen and understanding of core business dynamics, markets, and economic considerations.
A day in the life
You'll lead your team in developing innovative, multi-channel approaches to talent mapping and candidate generation - from target company mapping to conference engagement to referral network development. You'll review talent pipeline data with your team, identifying trends and adjusting search strategies to meet business demand. You'll advise senior leaders on search requirements, educating them about the external Principal Engineer demographic and market dynamics. You'll coach your team to become deep talent subject matter experts in various technical domains, optimizing search practices to accelerate and diversify hiring. You'll partner with recruiting stakeholders on strategic initiatives like attrition impact analysis, onboarding effectiveness, and employer branding
