What is a recruiter?

Recruiters are professionals who help organizations find and hire suitable candidates for job openings. They may work internally within a company's human resources department or externally for staffing agencies. Recruiters source candidates, review resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process. Their goal is to match qualified individuals with roles that fit their skills and the employer's needs. Effective recruiters build strong networks and maintain relationships with both employers and job seekers.

What do recruiters do?

The primary role of a recruiter is to match job seekers with job vacancies based on a candidate’s credentials and a company’s needs. A recruiter seeks out qualified candidates, then serves as a liaison between the candidate and the company to meet the demands of both parties regarding job duties and compensation. Recruiters save companies time by weeding out unqualified or unfit job seekers, and they help job seekers by connecting them with opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiter, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of talent acquisition strategies, and a background in human resources or business are essential, often supported by a bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and HR certifications such as SHRM or PHR are commonly required. Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building abilities help recruiters stand out in engaging both clients and candidates. These skills are crucial for matching the right talent to organizational needs and ensuring a smooth hiring process.

What are some common challenges recruiters face when sourcing candidates, and how can they overcome them?

Recruiters often face challenges such as finding qualified candidates for hard-to-fill roles, standing out to top talent in a competitive market, and managing a high volume of applications efficiently. To overcome these hurdles, recruiters leverage creative sourcing strategies, utilize advanced applicant tracking systems, and build strong employer branding to attract passive candidates. Additionally, maintaining clear communication with hiring managers and regularly updating sourcing techniques can help ensure a smoother recruitment process.

Job description

AI Recruiter

Tampa, FL | $50,000 Base | $75k+ Year 1 OTE | $120k+ Year 2 | $150k+ Year 3

One year into sales and wondering what’s next?

You’ve learned how to prospect. You’re comfortable picking up the phone. You’ve dealt with rejection, worked to targets and started developing the skills to become a great salesperson.

Now you want a career where your progression and earnings can move faster.

Strive is hiring ambitious salespeople to become AI Recruiters.

You don’t need recruitment experience. We’re looking for people with around 12+ months of B2B sales experience who are competitive, confident, coachable and want to build a serious career.

What is an AI Recruiter?

We partner with some of the fastest-growing AI and technology companies in the US, helping them hire the people they need to scale.

You’ll become an expert in the AI market, working with founders, executives and sales leaders while headhunting high-performing talent from their competitors.

It’s part sales, part headhunting and part relationship building.

Your job is simple: build a network of exceptional people, win their trust and connect them with exceptional companies.

The earning potential

We want people who are motivated by progression and earning more.

Year 1: $50k base | $75k+ OTE

Year 2: $120k+ OTE

Year 3: $150k+ OTE

And there’s no ceiling. The better you become, the more you can earn.

What you'll actually be doing

You'll be trained to:

  • Headhunt high-performing sales and GTM professionals
  • Build relationships with some of the fastest-growing AI companies in the US
  • Prospect and develop new business
  • Speak with founders, VPs and senior executives
  • Run candidate interviews and assess top performers
  • Negotiate offers and close deals
  • Build your own network and reputation within the AI industry

Who we're looking for

Recruitment experience isn't required. We’re much more interested in whether you have:

  • Around 1+ year of sales experience
  • A track record of working towards targets
  • Confidence speaking to new people
  • A competitive personality
  • Resilience when things don't go your way
  • The ability to take feedback and improve quickly
  • Genuine ambition to progress and earn more

You might currently be working in SaaS sales, B2B sales, business development, SDR/BDR, inside sales, account management or another target-driven environment.

Why Strive?

We’re a growing recruitment business specialising in the US technology market, with a particular focus on AI, cybersecurity, developer tools and software.

We've made 1,500+ placements and work with some of the fastest-growing VC-backed technology companies in the world.

You'll join an ambitious team where high performance is rewarded with rapid progression, uncapped commission and international incentive trips.

This isn't a role where you need to wait five years for your next promotion.

Perform, develop and your career moves with you.

Ready for something bigger?

If you've spent your first year in sales learning the fundamentals and you're now thinking “I can do more than this”, we want to hear from you.
